Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

No stress for Logano. Okay race without much tension.

At least Chase would have felt deserving based on year-round form. But Joey's better than Chastain or Bell fluking into it.

Once again the playoff system creates a final race that everyone will have forgotten about by this time tomorrow

I don't care how gimmicky it is; NASCAR needs to consider rotating the finale venue on a yearly basis.

Anything to get Phoenix off the table for a while.

I think Harvick got his 19th or 20th consecutive top-ten finish at Phoenix today.

9 years in a row the champion has won the last race. That is not a co-incidence.

They're basically told if you're not part of the Championship 4 stay out of it, been like that since this stupid system came into effect.

Yeah, it's obvious NASCAR is somehow manipulating the last race (as if the system itself wasn't one big manipulation already). Like when they impound engines for tech they kinda allow some extra boost or something. And all teams know it but they won't spill the beans since they would all profit from it if they can make the last four.

9 years in a row... 8O

With all the variables that go into a race, the strength of some drivers at one track versus another and just random luck... The odds of the Champion winning the race to clinch the title without interference would appear to be very remote indeed.

Or just they all know that most of the season is a waste of time and focus their development exclusively on the final race

Agree that it is suspect and unlikely to happen naturally, but by definition whichever of the final 4 finishes ahead in the final race is the champion. So the relevant odds to calculate are likelihood that one of the final 4 will win the final race, not the likelihood that one driver will win the final race.

The same thing has happened in all top 3 series. So if it's a conspiracy that all drivers and teams are helping cover up, that's all drivers and teams across all 3 series. I find that less likely than the odds one of the 4 best drivers will win the final race. But both are sketchy AF.

Thankfully NASCAR has owned the sketchiness with a helpful photo gallery: https://www.nascar.com/gallery/nascar-c ... ce-season/

9 from 9 since 2014, 7 from 65 prior to that. Modern era is probably the more relevant scope of comparison as prior to '72 hardly anyone ran all races, and that is just 2 from 42.

Anyone else look at the winner of this race and nothing more than the winner of this race?

If you held a gun to my head I couldn’t tell you in the correct order the last nine champions.

I have long checked out of the "championship" portion of the season as the engineering of a "finale" is too obvious.
As we predicted, the playoffs make the championship mean less than it ever did.

The fact they would highlight their machinations in a gallery says more than I can write.
