The Snowball Derby is underway and after about 50 laps of green flag racing, Chase Elliott has led the entire race. One of the pre-race favorites, Augie Grill, a 2 time winner didn't make it to the green flag after suffering a broken axle.

They ran 75 green flag laps before throwing a competition caution. Daniel Hemric won the race off pit row while Chase Elliott fell to 3rd. Ross Kenseth suffered left front damage after a collision on pit row with Grant Enfinger.

Bubba Pollard took the lead after the restart after taking 2 tires under the first caution. He continues to lead under caution #2.

Chase Elliott regains the lead from Bubba Pollard. David Ragan is out of contention with a broken ball joint.

Chase Elliott wins the Snowball Derby in convincing fashion. Erik Jones finishes 2nd. Grant Enfinger finishes 3rd despite running most of the race on 7 cylinders. This is all pending tech inspection which is very strict and thorough at the Snowball Derby.

Congrats to Chase on out-dollaring the field!

Chase Elliott became the first driver to win both the Snowball Derby and the Snowflake 100 in the same weekend.

One of the notable Snowball Derby DNQ's was Dakoda Armstrong, driving an entry for Richie Wauters.

Chase Elliott was just disqualified from the Snowball Derby after his car failed post-race tech. Pending technical inspection Erik Jones will have won for the 2nd year in a row.

Chase Elliott was disqualified after the car was found with an unapproved type of weight, tungsten. Don't know what the advantages are of using tungsten but it's prohibited. The inspection of Erik Jones car is ongoing. The 3rd place car of Grant Enfinger will also be inspected.

I read that tungsten is a metal denser than lead which allows teams to put weight at specific spots on the cars to improve performance. Chase Elliott's crew chief Ricky Turner accepted responsibility for the mistake.

Bill Elliott showed what kind of a class act he is by shaking the hand of Ricky Brooks, the guy who made the call to disqualify Chase. Ricky Brooks is the event's chief technical inspector and he runs a very tight ship.

Erik Jones' car has passed tech and is officially the winner of the Snowball Derby. He becomes the first driver since Augie Grill in 2007 and 2008 to win the Snowball Derby in back-to-back years.

Old clip from Desoto Speedway: What happens your fit of rage gets interrupted by an oncoming vehicle.

Is Rut Roe the name of the track or the sound scooby doo made spotting the crash coming and covering his eyes in worry?

Post subject:  Re: Local Racing Discussion

Probably the latter. Name of the track is Desoto Speedway (now Full Throttle Speedway) in Bradenton, Florida.

Actually they are going back to the old Desoto Superspeedway name.

We had one of the most insane legends races there earlier this year, 22 started and I think 8 finished.

It's fast.

Currently sitting 2nd in the overall Legends Winter Nationals points in Semi-Pro... One race to go and the leader and I are only separated by 4 points (2 positions) If I win the race I'll win the title. Never wanted anything so bad in my life. If you believe in God plz pray. :p
