Looks like Sadler will be showing up for more cup races later this season, but with MWR
Quote:
Sadler to drive 5 races for MWR: Michael Waltrip Racing announced that Elliott Sadler will drive the team's #55 Toyota in five Sprint Cup races in 2012 beginning at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 18. Sadler will also drive the #55 in the August Bristol event, both Martinsville races and the July 15 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Waltrip explained how Sadler came to drive the No. 55. "Elliott has the experience and attitude we were looking for," said the two-time Daytona 500 champion. "We'll pair him with Crew Chief Rodney Childers who builds really fast cars. We believe Elliott will do a great job." Waltrip drove the #55 in the Budweiser Shootout and will run in four more races in 2012. Mark Martin will drive the #55 in 24 races plus the All Star Race in Charlotte. MWR will name a driver for two road course events at a later date.(MWR)3-3-2012)

That's been blown to shit due to a conflict of interest solely based on the fact that Sadler drives a Chevy in the Busch Series and MWR is a Toyota team.

Well, hope that paves the way for Mark to switch to full-time status, be the only MWR car to make the Chase and then finished 2nd.

NASCAR to use extra pace car behind jet dryers: NASCAR officials announced a change to have an extra pace car with flashing lights behind the last jet-dryer truck on the track in all races in all three series -- Sprint Cup, Nationwide and the Camping World Trucks Series. The change, which was explained to the Sprint Cup teams during the drivers' meeting Sunday morning at Phoenix International Raceway, comes after Juan Pablo Montoya's car spun into a jet-dryer truck during a caution period in the Daytona 500 Monday night. The drivers of the jet-dryer trucks also will wear helmets and fire suits during each race, but that is a change agreed upon by officials at race tracks that play host to NASCAR events, not a rule instituted by NASCAR.(ESPN)(3-5-2012)

Well this just looks weird.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the new surface will bring to Pocono (I was there at the first race for the last surface, back in '96), but this isn't really aesthetically (sp?) pleasing. Not that it *needs* to be, just sayin'.

Guess the asphalt runoff was needed, even though it looks terrible. Thought the comment by Pocono Raceway there was interesting.

Ah ok, I saw Mikey in the 40 at Daytona and thought that was his superspeedway ride for the rest of the year.

the fact that mark has not won a championship makes him more memorable in a way... like dan marino. i mean, before this sentence you probably forgot that bobby labonte is a past champion.

I remember because he did it in a Pontiac and beat Eanhardt to do it.

If only NASCAR releases their rulebook to the general public...

Robby Gordon hoping for more Dodge support: #7-Robby Gordon obviously could use more sponsorship in any form, so if the Penske Racing move from Dodge to Ford in 2013 helps him, he's all for the additional support. As a driver and team owner, Gordon has run Dodges the last four years in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series. He gets his motors from Joey Arrington's Race Engines Plus. Gordon believes he has an advantage over other teams possibly looking for Dodge support because his team builds all his own cars. He doesn't have an alliance where he gets cars and engines from another organization. Gordon, who has successfully qualified for the first two races of the season after finishing outside the top 35 in 2011, plans to field a car in every race this year, but whether he will be the driver and how much of each race is run, due to finances, is still to be determined. His only funding comes from some Menard's sponsorship, from Dodge and whatever profits he can bring from his Speed Energy drink. "If I had a [full] factory program in place, I'd show up and drive all the races," Gordon said. "Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to fund this thing. With Speed Energy, that's been about the only way I can build a business that actually can turn some profit [for sponsorship].(Scene Daily)(3-7-2012)

Pretty sure he didn't run Dodges the past 4 years.
