But think about it. scarsurfing is obviously just as stupid as the average Joe. And Average Joe's make up for most of Nascar's fans.

2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees:
Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Inman, Richie Evans and Glen Wood the five inductees for the 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame
Pretty outstanding inductees if you ask me.

Stewart, Hamilton all smiles after car swap at WGI .

Quote:
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — NASCAR Cup star Tony Stewart and Formula One standout Lewis Hamilton have finished their car swap at Watkins Glen International.

After both drivers took warmup laps in their own cars on Tuesday, Hamilton hopped in Stewart's familiar No. 14, spun the tires as he left pit road, and turned six laps over the 3.4-mile long course on rain tires. The track was slowly drying after a morning rain. When he was finished, Hamilton did an impressive burnout as the fans roared their approval.

Stewart then got into the McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 that Hamilton drove to the 2009 F1 title, and after slowly leaving the pits began an impressive four-lap spin.

Stewart turned a fast lap of 1 minute, 42 seconds on rain tires in Hamilton's car.

Hamilton, who had never been to the track, was first to go out and drove only two laps in his car, making it around in 1:50 in a drizzle on a wet surface.

The track record for the long course is 1:28.597 at 136.935 mph, set by IndyCar's Ryan Briscoe in 2009.

Both were all smiles afterward, as was track president Michael Printup, who pegged the crowd for the free event from 8,000-10,000.

Watkins Glen hosted F1's U.S. Grand Prix from 1961-80, and since then the fans who attend races here have only heard the distinctive roar of those high-revving motors during vintage events.

I knew that Cale and DW were locks for the HOF this year. Good to see Richie Evans getting in. There is no question in my mind that he's the best driver to race in Nascar that never competed in any of the top 3 series.

I heard afterwards Tony Stewart went to Nascar's pace car driver Brett Bodine and one of the top officials at the race track wanting the Sprint Cup cars to run the full course, including "the Boot" at some point. He feels that running the boot would create more passing opportunities for the Sprint Cup cars. Jimmie Johnson also endorsed running the full course after running a Grand-Am race at Watkins Glen. The track offical said he's going to ask Mike Helton about possibly doing that since two of Nascar's top drivers have both endorsed this idea.

I don't think there's much hope in that. NASCAR official's have the same mindset as DTM's, let the fans at the track see the cars more often, at the expense of better racing.

That's the good track news. The bad track news is that IMS wants to move the Nationwide race from IRP to the big track.

I'm probably in the vast minority, but I don't much care for the full Glen layout. Nothing about that "boot" portion of the track excites me at all.

You suck. :p

The Boot is great. From what I saw in person walking around the track a couple weeks ago, it's a cool looking section just from the aesthetics standpoint. And from driving it in iRacing, it's a LOT of fun to drive. The left hander coming off the Outer Loop that leads you into the Boot is such a great corner. Then you get some strong elevation changes with some right handers that encourage some heavier braking, which gives you another opportunity to pass. Then the left hander turn 9 that takes you back to the short course is an absolutely brilliant turn because it feels like the racetrack is falling away from you -- the car gets really light through there.

They would still race at IRP though. It would just be earlier or later in the year. I remember reading that some 7-9 months ago....
But, who cares, Nationwide series sucks
