Brock Beard has released his "Three Before February" documentary on YouTube on the deaths of Adam Petty, Kenny Irwin and Tony Roper in the 2000 season.

With the exception of some very brief footage of the 1950 Southern 500 which was on a NASCAR Video Magazine from the early 90s, that's the earliest NASCAR footage I've ever seen. Cool find!

I think this is the oldest Cup footage in existence (from April 1950)

I read elsewhere that it was Darrell Waltrip who crashed through the fence and rolled in that video

Nice to see Bristol footage of that era, not that many out there.

Bristol all that year was nuts.

You had, in the Spring Busch Race:
- Ken Alexander getting in everyone's way and practically wrecking his career
- Jack Sprague going after Jimmy Spencer
- Kevin Harvick shirt-collaring Greg Biffle in one of the most memorable conflicts of the 2000s

In the Cup Race:
- Kurt Busch and Jimmy Spencer going at it
- Dale Jr and Robby Gordon going at it

In the Summer Busch Race:
- The Mike Harmon Incident

In the Bristol Night Race:
- Incidents involving Elliott Sadler, Hut Stricklin and Jimmie Johnson
- Ward Burton's infamous "I wish I had something I could have shot through the window" interview
- Tony Stewart having some kind of incident with a fan
- Jeff Gordon ending a lengthy winless streak by pulling a bump-and-run on Rusty Wallace

Those were fun times.

Not gonna lie, I was a low-key Jimmy Spencer fanboy in the early 2000's. In retrospect, that race started my long-time disdain for Kurt Busch.

Both North Wilkesboro races from 1987 uploaded today, as per iRacing's efforts to bring that vintage to the sim.

I know what Bristol needs. Progressive banking.

I am a genius.

When using cars that can actually pass, progressive bank Bristol usually has good racing. If it wasn't done to Bristol, I think the racing would be seen in a different light.

(the Modifieds proved this / until they started adding the traction compound and messing with restrictor plates)

With the current NASCAR packages, I think we wouldn't see all that much different racing on the old banking given how aero dependent & fragile the cars are now
