Telling when the best defense she has to accusations of money-grubbing is the old "people in glass houses". There's no calls for safety improvements here, no desire to honour Ward's memory by making sure it can't happen again - they just want a rich guy's cash.

how sweet. Instead of trying to go for an out-of-court settlement they go full frontal assault with peashooters.

They probably fail to see that the whole drug thing weakens their case severely. If they do want money they should have acted all Nazi-Germany and say they didn't know about his drug problem and then sue the promoters for not testing their drivers (enough). That probably would actually stand a chance in court.

To be honest, if all they did was just grieve and acknowledge the tragedy, you can see Tony Stewart possibly stepping in to help the Wards (whether directly, through a fundraiser / memorial type thing, etc.).

All this harping is shooting themselves in the foot. Based on all that I've heard of the evidence, they most likely aren't going to win any case, and they are going to simply build up bad mojo for trying what looks like to so many to be a very naked money-grab.

Isn't this just the Aunt though? Haven't the real family been a bit on the quiet side since the announcement?
