The best part of the race was when I was fast-forwarding through the first 133 laps, I glanced at the ticker and saw

Jeff Gordon could set an interesting record with a championship on sunday. Dale Earnhardt came within 1 spot of it during his final full season. It would be 20 years between Jeff's first and last Cup championship. With Bobby Labonte not racing full time and Tony Stewart retiring, the next person in line that could even tie that record would be Matt Kenseth in 2023.

Also could break the old Terry Labonte record in span between 2 championships (14 instead of 12) and win it on 3 decades, something nobody ever did.

Next years Daytona 500 will be the first race since 1971 that hasn't featured either R. Petty, Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon, the first race in the modern era

What is the significance of that? Every time a legend has retired we've had someone else in the middle of dominance (currently Johnson, in 2001 Gordon, in 1992 Earnhardt) and someone potentially at the start of a great career (currently possibly Elliott, Larson or Jones, in 2001 Johnson, in 1992 Gordon). The cycle is just repeating, assuming NASCAR doesn't completely destroy itself before it has a chance to.

Think I'd be content with anyone besides Harvick winning he title. Wouldn't even feel bad about Kyle winning. He didn't just limp into the Chase he got into the top 20 after missing 11 races, don't think you'll ever see a run like that. Course everyone will say he didn't deserve it. Of course wanna see JAFF take it, and Truex winning would be a modern day Alan Kulwicki type story (not his own team I know, but a single car team from Colorado who a decade ago couldn't even qualify for races making the final four is a great story). Harvick and his team are manipulative cheats...no way they've not had something under the hood no one knows about these last two years. And those Talladega shenanigans are absolutely unforgivable. Hope he wipes out turn one lap one.
