I remember the days when Busch went to tracks Cup never bothered with, that was so much better.

I would love to see Hickory, Rougemont, Myrtle Beach, South Boston, and New River Valley brought back, but it would never happen. :(

Rougemont is (and always has been known as) Orange County Speedway. New River Valley Speedway was purchased by Shelor Motor Mile (an automotive dealership group) and was renamed Motor Mile Speedway. Many of the short tracks that the Busch Series used to run were the very same tracks that were dropped from the Grand National/Cup Series schedule when Winston came along, and most of these tracks are still in operation today as weekly series tracks just as they always have been. If you want to see a series that somewhat resembles the Busch Series of old I'd strongly suggest watching the K&N Pro Series East since they race on many of the same short tracks the Busch Series used to.

Nascar needs a pair to drivers who wreck each other everytime they are near, would make every race entertaining imo

Would Carl Edwards and Brad Kesolowski suffice?

Or, failing that, what about Todd Bodine and the rest of the field?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's still a retarded way to "fix" the problem. All they need to do is separate the NNS and Cup schedules, which would both make it more difficult for drivers to run both races, and allow the NNS to visit more short tracks and emerging markets. But NASCAR doesn't want to do that because having double or triple-bill events justifies them jacking up the ticket price. Which is also why grandstands are half empty these days.

In short, NASCAR are jackasses.

They should have ARCA tag along for the Saturday events or Trucks and have Nationwide run the least amount of companion races.

There's plenty of racing series within and outside of the NASCAR family that would suffice.

SHE WAS ENTERTAINING, GUYS.

I'd sometimes tune into BGN races just to see what that crazy broad would do next...

But she was also pretty emotional as well. It was usually reflected on whether Joe had a good day or a bad day, regardless if it was a Cup or Busch race.

Actually, the #21 is using the owner's points from the #19 car last year. They list Petty as the owner because they're his owner's points.

I think the small fields in the Nationwide Series are a combination of two things. One, is the new car, which a lot of the smaller teams couldn't afford to build. Second, is the economics. Sponsorship has been a struggle for everybody in the series from a big team like Roush to some of the smaller teams like Jay Robinson's team. I can see more teams in the series by this time next year because there might be some of the new cars for sale at the end of the year because a lot of teams sell their cars and build new cars to keep their stable of race cars fresh.

Another thing that might also bring about an increase in car counts as the season goes along is a practice that Kevin Harvick's truck series team has been doing for a couple of years. Harvick's team builds a lot of trucks to sell to other teams. I know that Greg Pursley gets trucks from KHI. I can see KHI doing that in the Nationwide Series as well.

I understand few people seeing in advance how the economy has gone from 2008 to the present day. That being said, when you look back and see people from both sides of the catchfence crying economic woes since 2001-2002, it makes you wonder why certain actions were taken while others that could have had a tangible effect on saving costs (and improving the racing) weren't.

I think in 2001-2002, the truck series was hit harder than Cup or Nationwide, in terms of sponsorship. The truck series had a tough time drawing big fields to a lot of their non-short track events. In a given race, there may have been 10 part-time teams in a field. Not many of those teams were able to run with the top teams. The Cup and Nationwide Series wasn't in that situation at the time. They had their struggles in 2004-2005, while the truck series was getting stronger fields, with Toyota getting involved in the series.

There were a lot of Cup/Busch teams that scaled back or went under, and a lot of complaints from the ones that didn't.

Nothing but gloom and doom on the national news this evening. If gas hits $5 a gallon by the end of May there might be a lot of short fields.

Which is why un-fucking TV is more important than ever.
EDIT: From what I understand, prices should be cheaper by the time July rolls around.

I walked by her one day at Atlanta a few years back when Joe was driving the Army car. It was obvious it was her, what with her being in full-blown Drill Sergeant garb. Kind of amusing, actually.
