Gave it 1

Procession most of the race and too much of a "Danica coverage", albeit she was pretty good the whole thing

Gave it a 4, it needed more footage of Danica.

Scratch that, I'm voting 10/10.

Because that's Danica's number.

Danica.

Was going for 0 but voted 1 because Brad's broken aero allowed the low lane to put on the only racing of the day.

1. Racing was terrible, coverage was horrific and the accidents eliminated fan favourite cars whilst drivers like Kyle continued on.

I don't even care that Johnson won. The rest was just too terrible.

A 2. I found it boring and tedious.

I gave it a 6. Seen much worse, seen better.

Anyone who thinks this was the worst 500 ever, please consult the 2000 running of The Great American Race.

I'd rate the 2000 500 a 2 just because the track had more bumps for drivers to deal with, lol. Otherwise same shit, different year.

During the 2000 Speedweeks, weren't there were only like 9 lead changes or something in total for the Cup cars? Can't remember the exact number but it was embarrassing.

9 in the 500. Jarret opened the big can of kick ass on them. Only time in the plate era I ever saw a car, by itself, pull away from two cars in a draft. This is the race that led Dale Sr. to call NASCAR the sorriest bunch of racing ever.

That fall the roof and spoiler wickers were added and the result was, by many accounts, a Talladega race for the ages that saw Dale Sr. come from 18th to first in the last 4 laps.

If the Spring Dega race is the same as the 500, and fan reaction is the same, by the time the circus comes back to Daytona in July there will be changes.

Which part? Me giving this race a 6/10 or the 2000 race?

Or some of the races in the 80's. Or the 70's. Or the 60's.

I gave it a three. Overcast weather, single file racing most of the race, the anticipation vs. what actually happened, no real memorable moments, a shit-ton of commercials, JJ winning, and the finish being very lackluster are my prime reasons. Credit to Dale Jr. and Mark Martin for trying something though. Also Danica-mania got on my nerves. Credits to her for finishing well and running up front, but the coverage of her was just so stupidly over-the-top.

Exactly. This may have been the worst race in the past ten years, but it's nothing compared to some races back in the 60's and 70's. Take 1965 for example, when about 10 cars did what would now be called starting & parking and there were literally three cars that were seriously competitive, plus a couple more that were fairly close to the front. Another thing to remember is the first 500 mile race of this era. In this race they were basically charting uncharted territory.

Was that the same year Jarrett won the Bud Shootout Qualifier and was pretty much alone on track and won by a big margin? The Fords, in general, were very stout that year.
