Trevor Bayne won't be racing at Richmond this weekend.

Jayski.com wrote:
Bayne Undergoing Medical Tests; Will Not Race in Richmond: Roush Fenway's [and Wood Brothers Racing's #21] Trevor Bayne has been hospitalized and is undergoing tests for symptoms that are thought to be related to the insect bite he sustained earlier this month. "Trevor was not feeling well early this week and he is currently being evaluated for lingering symptoms that may be related to his previous insect bite," said Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark. "Unfortunately Trevor will not be available to drive the #16 Ford for us this weekend in the Nationwide race at Richmond [Bayne was not scheduled to run the Sprint Cup race as the #21 Wood Brother's team runs a limited schedule]. As of now, our plans are to use a substitute driver from the Roush Fenway family of drivers in place of Trevor at Friday night's race. Obviously Trevor wanted to be in Richmond and he's upset about not being able to compete. However, his health is our top priority and we insisted that he have these tests to get to the bottom of his symptoms. We will work to provide you with further updates as they become available." The 20-year old driver was treated and released earlier this month after a reaction from an apparent insect bite on his left elbow that he suffered earlier that week while at home in North Carolina.(Roush Fenway Racing)(4-28-2011)

The rumor going around at the track is that he has MS. I hope that it's not true, but with the way it's looking from various twitter posts from drivers, it doesn't look good.

It's probably Lyme's. Doctors told my mom she had MS and it ended up being Lyme's disease, which is transferred via insect bites or ticks. It is treatable, just no cure unless it is caught within the first 48 hours, which is next to impossible.

Well, his season's gone downhill faster than Hermann Maier at Kitzbuhl.

Such a shame.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Sucks indeed :(

Well, Chris Buescher will replace him at Richmond for tomorrow: http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/nationwideseries/Bayne_replacement_Chris_Buescher_looking_forward_to_unexpected_Nationwide_debut.html

Pretty unexpected there for me.

Perhaps it was that spider bite he got during the Texas weekend? Either way, I'm hoping it's not career ending as some are speculating.

On a lighter note, SPEED will air the rest of the K&N Pro race live after the rain delay ends.

Not really sure where you all are getting all that info. A hasty Twitter search didn't lead to much other than DW saying stuff about Bayne being a man of God and the Lord is with him in these times and whatnot. Regardless, I really hope it's not as serious as the two diseases mentioned. It's unbearably sad to think his career may already be in jeopardy.

Cars are rolling again at Richmond, 70 laps to go for the K&N cars.

Great racing at the moment.

Love how loose everyone is as well. I know they can get away with it because the cars are short on power but it still looks really cool.

Good to see Gresham in second. The tornado that flew through south of here missed his family's race shop by about 500 to 1000 feet last night, so I bet he's probably a little relieved right now.

Put a clause in that petition to bring the series back to Lime Rock.

Great race for 2nd between Gresham and Moffitt.

Also, Scott Bouley seems to be the East series equivalent to Kevin Conway or an ARCA backmarker.

This is a good race.

I'd love to see them run a 200-lapper like the Irwindale Showdown here, but on the Saturday afternoon of the fall Cup weekend.
