I can see looking out for the fans, but road-racing fans know what they're getting into as far as weather. It's not like WNY general sports fans won't sit out in the rain for a Bills game - Heck, they had 60,000+ sit in the rain for the Winter Classic a few seasons ago...

Snow, actually. You have a point, tho.

That game was awesome, by the way.

Wasn't it freezing rain for a while during the game, or am I mixing that up with this year's Winter Classic?

Is it me or does ESPN seem to be trying to avoid the whole idea of the race being postponed due to rain?

I think you're referring to the Caps-Pens game. The Sabres-Pens game had snow.

Off the top of my head: Dale Earnhardt, Terry Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace. I know there's a lot more.

Mike Skinner. Jeff Gordon wasn't there that year.

Why can't they race? This isn't an oval, get on with it. I saw the nationwide series race in the rain at Montreal a few years ago, the rain was much heavier then.

Gordon and Labonte didn't drive in 1997 when the rain actually happened. Those who were there: Mark Martin (the polesitter), Geoff Bodine, Kenny Wallace, Bobby Hamilton, Ron Hornaday, Kenny Irwin, David Green, Michael Waltrip, Wally Dallenbach, Jack Sprague, Randy LaJoie and even Larry Gunselman of all people.

Why did Top Gun have to be on Friday night, and not now? :(
EDIT: Mad Max 2 on AMC will have to suffice.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. I was thinking 1996 for some reason.

To weigh in on rain tires. It would be exciting as a driver but we'd run more laps under yellow then green. I drove once here in wet - it was a hand full. -JG
