Apparently not Michael Waltrip. I'd say Jeff Burton, but he's got that NBC gig, unless they find a way to incorporate it.

Can't see why Burton couldn't do it, so long as Vickers is back by the time NBC takes over in July.

I thought it was Sprint not NASCAR that determines the eligibility and format?

Regardless of who made the call, you know why they made the Daytona 500 pole sitter rule. Also, my list was wrong, Kurt and Jr were already locked in, as previous shootout winners.

Again? I believe he had one repaired during his first bout with blood clots as well.

They might as well just make it a 160 lap race and be done with it.

That's what I feel like about the changes. Next up: draw your name out of a top hat.

Or, you know...some crazy CZW-esque death cage match with barbed wire, broken glass, thumbtacks, and what have you in play.

I think they've changed the format every year in recent memory…

Personally, I think it would be cool to change the format every year and just make it a tradition that nobody knows until January. Lol

In 2016 the criteria will simply be: drivers who have had sex with Ricky Stenhouse.

Jack Roush would still beat Danica with one eye.

I just don't understand why it can't just be pole winners and past event winners of the last 5 or 10 years..... 20 laps, a break or pit stop, 15 laps. Call it The Sprint.

I think the problem is, less people would show up to watch 12 cars for 35 total laps. And pay $100 for it.

That's why you compensate by giving them the ARCA Demo Derby as part of the show.

Especially now with how much it can cost going to a race as a fan. I have to agree on that point, granted I hate that they have changed the format of the race like 5 times now and with it being a non points race on a SS. It just bores me out anymore just watching it on TV. Not counting the fact that there was like what? 6 cars at the finish of this year's race because the whole field wrecked on lap 10?

Honestly they need to try 1 of 2 things, A: add a 3rd race to that night, such as the Truck races to make it a more of a bang for your buck type of deal (thinking they would keep the price similar to what it is now) or B: move the Unlimited to the road course. Granted it wouldn't be liked by some, not counting there is camping normally on the road course, would have to add lighting or add headlights (cough IROC cough) if it was a night event and the fact that the Unlimited car is used as a backup car for the 500 regularly. But with how the road course races have been recently and with how big the grandstands are now/going to be in 2016. I think it wouldn't be a bad thing to try. And it would kinda of be a throwback to how it was back in the 70's when they would race the Modifieds and Grand American cars on the road course.

I agree with most of this except they will NEVER put the race on the road course so there's no need to even bring that option up....

The myth that it costs oh so much to attend a race is absurd. I've gone to 3 tracks in the last 5/6 years and haven't spent more than $35 on a ticket. Parking has always been free and I can bring in whatever food and drinks I want.... Now last year I went to a Yankees game... 2 tickets at $30 a pop, parking $35, 2 hot dogs, 2 beers and cheese fries at $42. So that's $137 spent and a ball hadn't even been thrown yet. Add in some more food and beer, it was about $250 for both of us which was a "cheap" outing at a ball game. Went to Dolphins @ Jets last year at $100 per ticket.

The only thing I'll give in on is the hotel prices around the tracks are ridiculous so if it's an overnight trip, you spend a ton. But it's not the tracks fault that the hotels jack the shit out of the room prices. I usually will find a hotel about 30mins away at a much more reduced price.
