That wouldn't make enough of a tow to really throw down a big lap. Look at the Friday practices. The big lap times are always set early by guys rushing up through the tail of a large pack.

Well at least some changes nascar make can be decent, even if it's just copying and pasting F1's qualy rules.

I always thought the 1 car deal wasn't worth watching, but then they hid it away on a Friday when everyone was in work anyway so it didn't seem to matter.

Which brings me to this point: This new system is going to be crazy, but are they still holding it on Fridays of the race weekends?

Wasn't expecting to see this.

If this is indeed true, then the timing is horrible for TSM, since Daytona is less than a month away.

John Wes Townley will compete the full ARCA Racing Series season for Venturini Motorsports.

Yes, along with running a full Truck season for Wauters, apparently.

Getting a shit load of seat time and already had greatly improved over years past. He could very well win that ARCA title

That sucks for Jeb, he had a decent truck season and probably had a good chance to win the title this year.

In these times when it's hard to get a sponsor, it's good to see Leavine Family Racing have one. McDowell will now run in 20 races. No parking. 8O

Stupid decision... put the truck race on saturday preceding the all star showdown and all star race and that right there would be more bang for your buck. More on track action is better in my book. I couldn't care less about a pre-race concert.

A rare sight to see a snow covered Talladega Superspeedway!

That's not too bad of an idea they came up with…

I'll say from watching the "no pit road speed" qualifying last year from the stands, it was one of the most exciting things I've ever seen. There just weren't a lot of people in the there for it… Maybe having the Showdown the night of the truck race will draw a bigger crowd.

No it sucks. I have been going to the All Star race every year since 2005 with the exception of 2012. We started with 4 of us and now it's over 20 people that we have attending. I usually fly in from CT along with many other people, some are just casual fans. A lot of them fly in Friday afternoon/evening. So essentially these people get fucked out of the Showdown and the people that can attend the Showdown and All Star race now have to pay even more money. When you have a bunch of people come in, the truck race is hard to get too. Escpecially when you're getting all the supplies and what not in order for tailgating.

With that said, this will be my 2nd year missing it since I will be on vacation in the Carribean and I prefer that over Charlotte/Concord any day.

Looks like Kurt and Ganassi have talked about the Indy 500....

Quote:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Chip Ganassi Racing has had a preliminary discussion with Kurt Busch about running the Indianapolis 500.

"I've talked to him," Ganassi team president Steve Lauletta said Tuesday. "I don't know if it's going to work for us. We haven't gotten to a point where we know if we can run a fifth car for the Indy 500. If we did that, then we'd be able to have a more detailed conversation. But we haven't made that decision yet."

Busch put his chances Monday at "70 percent" at running the 500 this year. He said his options were Andretti Autosport and one other team he declined to identify. Busch said his first choice would be to partner with Andretti because he tested with the team last season.

Busch drives a Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR, and Andretti fields Honda's in IndyCar. A Chevrolet official said Tuesday it would be optimal for Busch to drive for a GM team.

Kyle Larson has also told Chip that he wants to do the double.

Why? I would much rather see him as an Indycar hero than in NASCAR. NASCAR has too much going on in the racing world right now, Indycar however needs a new American hero to stay afloat.

Kid's a racer, so IMO he belongs in a series where there is actual racing.

Plus, since he comes off a midget and sprint car pedigree, it would be good for Indycar's future if there's an example of a driver that can progress from the "traditional" ranks, rather than from European single-seaters/Indy Lights.

Because he's a rookie NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver.... Not an IndyCar driver....
