If it makes Denny feel any better, the wall-of-death spot ultimately didn't make any difference - Bread's DQ gives Ross an extra 2 stage points which, if Ross had finished where he started the final lap, would have left them tied.

He was penalized for the Indy deal though, even though honestly he shouldn't have been. NASCAR told the drivers in the drivers meeting prior to the race to use that if they missed the chicane.

Did he miss it on purpose? You're damn right he did, but noone can prove that, unless there's some in car audio I don't recall hearing. I know that in these situations common sense should prevail, but NASCAR said that was the option if you missed the chicane. There wasn't a mention about you have to stop for a couple of seconds and then use the access lane, just that you could use it.

I saw Chastain referred to above as "dumb". I wouldn't call it dumb, I'd call it brilliant. Exploiting the gray area as much as humanly possible. He drives for Trackhouse... not really one of the top dollar teams. Sometimes it takes brains over raw horsepower to beat the big dogs. I'd say this move gets banned for next year and won't be allowed again.
