The dumb thing is NASCAR will probably use that as a reason to say the low downforce rules package experiment hasn't worked and they'll go back to super high downforce configuration, instead of addressing the core route of the problem, that their on track product and tv presentation is shit (and the splitter and skirts suck balls).

They somehow managed to reduce the downforce without reducing the aero-dependency of the cars. It's kind of amazing. Why the fuck are the right sides of the cars so huge and flat nowadays? Can't we get these things symmetrical and more rounded to reduce the sideforce? Why the fuck are the cars a billionth of a millimeter off the ground with huge side skirts? Can't we get them off the fucking racetrack and have some mechanical grip again?
