Is it wishful thinking that it was the sarcastic vote? I'll just sarcastically vote for xxxxx...oh wait, oh shit so did everybody else...fuck. BTW I actually have a fear that is how it will go down with Trump.

Actually I'd put Austin as one of the best.

Abu-Dhabi is easily the worst.
Even Bahrain brought us the 2014 race, what has Abu-Dhabi brought us but a championship decider so bad they decided to invent DRS because of it

Bahrain is one of the best tracks of the year for overtaking. Location is a joke, but the racing is usually very good there.

Austin actually wasn't designed from scratch by Tilke, he only made small changes based on a layout by Tavo Hallmund and Kavin Schwantz and the buildings.

Worst Tilke track ever was Valencia.

Yeongam and Buddh are also really bad. Glad they're gone.

Austin is the classic case of think ahh well if we just put together all the best corners of the calendar we would have a great track. More often than not it's what leads up to the corners that matters the most.

The first sector whilst theoretically is great, its actually just horrible for racing with one corner ontop of another.

I try to like CoTA but the overall track is pretty bland. It's decent for motorcycle racing but everything else just doesn't have good racing quality there.

I really miss Istanbul; it was probably one of Tilke's best.

Maybe they could bring it back as the Not-Quite-European Grand Prix.

They just needed to put grass and gravel on the outside of T8 and that would have been an awesome corner only for the bravest.

Istanbul was probably my favourite. Decent layout, and the final section often provided some good racing. As you say, with some grass and gravel, it really could have been challenging as well. The run off everywhere still ruined it a lot, and the first corner could have easily been Interlagos.
Malaysia as well. Proof that a modern circuit can have grass/gravel run offs, and shock horror, it's still safe! Less track limit stupidity to worry about.

Personally, I'm not sure why Austin is considered one of the better Tilke tracks. It's nice to see some elevation, but the circuit is so unnecessarily wide in places, with so much unneccessary run off, to the point that it's used as part of the circuit. The esses could have been fun, but once again, there is absolutely no challenge or time loss if you make a mistake there.

Worst? Easily Abu Dhabi. The layout in Bahrain is terribly bland as well, yet is does have a habit of giving us good racing.

Even the kerbs are too wide.

if you do it well, you can pass everyone in racing games just using runoff areas at CoTA and Yas Marina (Yas specially sucks even in sim racing, a total waste of money)

now Istanbul is quite fun to watch and race, elevation changes and turn 8 makes it special

Pretty sure if you go back through the archives of rate the race that Abu Dhabi got one of the races of the year a few years ago.

My personal favourite of the Tilke dromes we've had recently was actually India. I really liked that circuit.

2012. But then a good race can happen anywhere under the right format and regulations (look at previously 100% shitshow Valencia that year too)

COTA is nothing but a piecemeal track with corners inspired by other tracks, but it has a great flow to it.
And it's one of the first where Tilke thought "you know what, lets try this gradient thing that everyone keeps whining at me about" and it really works for Turn 1 imo

Whilst people hated the race, I loved it.

Sat up at Turn 1 all weekend in some great weather, met some cool people from all over the world, drank over priced beer, made the track invasion (By queuing up 15 laps before the end) and legged it all the way down the S/F straight.

Made it in front of the podium and hung around for a while after the race, was in a small bunch of people who kept shouting to Johnny Herbert who were trying to distract him. He eventually came over with Damon Hill when they were off the air and had a short chat to us all.

Poor show from the track though, kicked us off the track 20-30 minutes earlier than planned so we could "Make it to the Usher Concert". Nobody gave a damn about the Usher post race concert, the track officials didn't get their way so they got the Police involved, who forced us off the track.

Still, 10/10 weekend and some epic sunburn/tan lines in random places to boot.

Check out the "Perez enjoys grandstand view of Renault battle" video at https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/feat ... ents.html#

At 0:36 I'm sure Perez does a rare thing in actually hitting the 15k rev limiter, something we don't see as drivers never rev above 11500RPM
