Already problems at McLaren?

Quote:
Maybe not yet but it certainly sounds as if team boss Eric Boullier wasn't overly impressed with their morning's work.

“Not good enough," the Frenchman reported to Sky Sports News at lunchtime. "We didn’t have the best mileage, we have had couple of issues in the car.

“Definitely better but we already have suffered one year of pain so this is the minimum we expect.”

Or will things get better?

Quote:
Ted has made his way from the pit lane with a story for all you McLaren fans about their partner Honda's progress:

"While most engine manufacturers are here with their bespoke 2016 engine, with which they intend to do the first few races, that's not the case for Honda.

"The power unit in the back of Button and Alonso's car at this test is effectively a mark I 2016 engine incorporating most of the changes Honda knew they needed to make over the winter.

"There will be another new engine, mark II, which will debut for the second test next week and the result of what they learn between the two specs of power unit will be combined into mark III, that they'll take to race in Melbourne.

"So if it doesn't look brilliant for McLaren early on, don't worry, better engine bits are on the way."

"better engine bits are on the way" is still not very encouraging against other teams who already have better engine bits and are testing them.

Rosberg already 2 tenths off last year's pole.

So far, Renault is far from impressive.

Well Vettel and Ricciardo were on ultra-softs.

Colder conditions are another reason, looks like they make around 2 seconds from that. But I would guess that this year, everyone will be around a second faster than 2015.

Mclaren and Renault seem pretty shit.

Manor and Haas not too bad.

McLaren at least seem fairly reliable this year, some decent mileage again today. Always the classic question of making a quick car reliable or a reliable car quick but still, it's an improvement on last year where they lacked pace and reliability.

Today, Alonso completed more miles than in all of 2015 pre-season testing. I guess more speed is the order of the day now.

Haas don't seem to have suffered the same crappy start as the previous new teams.

I'll be rooting for Renault, Haas, McLaren (well Alonso and Button really), and Manor this season...and hopefully Ferrari fights for the titles. :excited:

Hope that Mclaren after reliability now finds also some speed.
Manor has a good driver in Wehrlein, and a great engine,I even thing that the worst teams will be Sauber and Renault.
Ferrari seems a step closer, but you never know with Mercedes they always have some speed somewhere when they need it. And they have such a big gap last year, even if they would be on the same point as last year I doubt anyone could challenge them.

Lol it's great that they aren't miles off of the pace, but they're still 3 seconds off.
