Is he going to buy himself into Lotus, a Stewart-Haas kinda situation?

That's what I was thinking.

Lotus runs Mercedes engines and he already said he wont run with Mercedes engines. Buying into Haas is an option but they join in 2016 and he also said he won't take a sabatical. Then again, Haas enters in 2016 so they don't have to follow the F1 rules yet so they could test the entire 2015 season if they like like Toyota did (unless there are new restrictions on tyres and engines).

But frankly I'm expecting to get disappointed and he's joining McLaren.

Eje Elgh: "Nothing is confirmed, but Sauber is definitely one of the teams that Ericsson's management is talking to."

Third car at Mercedes or Red Bull sounds nice for Alonso IMO

Alonso being forced into a self-inflicted sabbatical sounds even nicer TBH.

Crazy idea here.

Ferrari has said on multiple occasions they wanted to run a 3th car, preferably under the flag of an US based team. Haas F1 is most likely running Ferrari engines and other technology.
How far fetched would it be that Alonso joins Haas F1, tests a lot for the majority of 2015 and races there for 2016. Maybe even with a share in the team (like Stewart-Haas in NASCAR). Haas has his experienced driver and Ferrari their 3th (and 4th) car under the US Flag.

Unless the rules have changed, Haas F1 starts in 2016 and therefor does not have to follow any rule for F1 teams until then so they're free to test whenever, wherever they want like Toyota was doing as well.

I'm going to quote myself here and give this another spin.

- The relation between Ferrari and Alonso is at a low but they prefer to keep him in a Ferrari over him in another race winning team.
- Bernie, other teams and Alonso knew about the situation at Caterham and Marussia. Hence the comments by Alonso that he's working on it for a while now.
- Because of this they will allow customer cars in 2015. Fits in the working on it for a while now comment.
- Alonso either starts from scratch or buys Marussia or Caterham or joins up with Haas and runs customer Ferrari's.

I know its still kinda far fetched but leaving Ferrari wouldn't necessarily be best for Ferrari. If the McLaren-Honda isn't a turd and he goes there, its another competitor for them. Having him in a customer car team means he can still win race for them and it gives them extra data.

/edit: on another forum someone is saying that Sky is saying Alonso to Haas F1. Either they stole my thoughts or I was very close for once :metal:

If he really is buying into a team, he hasn't learned from Fittipaldi. That would be quite dense

For the sake of variety, I'm going to throw Saubers name into the ring.... It's already powered by Ferrari, they've got the basic structure to create a great car, they just need to financial backing to bring the right people to the team....

Sutil didn't seem to know about either of those announcements, and has politely suggested that the team has a discussion with him...

I understand the second Force India seat is between Perez and Chilton.

Eurosport commentator Joao Carlos Costa just posted that Button will announce his 2015-switch to Toyota WEC on Sunday, after the race. Replacing Lapierre.

So that's Porsche, Nissan and now Toyota. When are the talks with Audi rumour coming?
