Thats not the answer to my question.
I wanna know if the gearbox ratios are restricted? I mean how they set them before season started so they will race the whole year with this ratio.
Or they can still adjust them for each race like previous years?

Google is your friend...

Gearbox ratios are fixed for the season (for 2014 only they may be changed once), but teams may change gears or dog rings at any time during an event providing that the FIA technical delegate is satisfied that there is physical damage to the parts in question.

Thankyou kals.
So this means when F1 gets to Monza that cars like Ferrari,RBR,Lotus wont go any faster than 325-330km/h in 8th gear with DRS open??
Or we have to wait and see..

That doesn't look like anything special.

Toto Wolff and Paddy Lowe have been injured in a cycling accident during a team building outing. Both are fine, but Juan Pablo Montoya was unavailable for comment.

Looks like a cross between COTA and Sachsenring.

I quite like it and it certainly looks better than Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and a few others. That said it is not a racing circuit so mclaren2008's point isn't really that valid. It's a track day / performance circuit.

Escuderia Telmex, which I believe to be the title sponsor of the race, has posted a picture of the planned 2015 layout. It includes the proper Peraltada...

That would be awesome. Surely they'd put the walls further back though? Then again, Valencia had some really fast sweeps at the end of the lap, and there was no run off there. We can hope!

Handed out to those who attended the press conference, according to Escuderia Telmex. I can't see it staying that way though.

thats the old layout

Different designers will have different views on how to tackle the restrictions.

tilke does only what his clients want, other track designers would have the same struggle

Just look at a track like Portimao, complies to FIA's regulation and still looks much more refreshing than any of the stuff Tilke has drawn in the last phew years.

portimao is not homologated for f1, if it was made for f1 it woud look different. look at istanbul, its a great track ruined by the unnecessary big run offs.

Yeah, was just minor alterations iirc. Think it included the full Peraltada too, albeit slightly altered

^^ I don't think I dreamt it. It just included some tightening of corner radii for run-off purposes, mainly in the Esses and possibly the Peraltada as well

EDIT: Ah, I think this was it - I remembered wrong. This is just the 2002 Champ Car layout

I suppose the main point from this that we can take, though, is that after the return of Austria this year, is this a definitive shift away from establishing races in new countries and towards returning to the old staples? It reads like Bernie/FOM deciding after Korea, India, Turkey and Valencia failed that it's not worth it any more. Argentina or South Africa next?

I guess it's the sort of slash and burn concept. F1 went into some countries, completely exploited some naive promoters and then left. But it will just go where the money is. It didn't go to Austria and Mexico for nostalgia's sake.

Another factor though is that the more countries you do exploit, the fewer you have left in the future anyway.

Portimão has a 1T rating, how is it not set up for F1?

I believe Zandvoort is 1T as well, or at least it used to be. I can hardly call that track F1-suitable.

This seems to be a bit more official regarding the track layout to be used:

I like it.
Also, I had a good laugh at that grid they have on there, basically all of the 2011 cars with the 2014 Force India of Checo on pole, no fucks given about Steve :flag:

Yes because the t stands for illiterate.

T usually implies the circuit is capable of running cars, but the circuits facilities are not satisfactory for running an entire event, or it's just not feasible for whatever reason (economy, logistics, location etc) Paul Ricard springs to mind.

This is exactly the definition between 1 and 1T. Facilities for fans and teams. Silverstone was in danger of becoming a 1T due to the state of the old garages. Hence the new ones.
