Everybody seems to get caught up with the on track event and lost the perspective.

Martin Whitmarsh told reporters that they got an "okay" from the FIA that their ontrack position was within the rules. Then they got a penalty. How fair is that? They could have just let Kimi go and extend their drivers lead by 2 points over Massa. But they were told their position was okay.Twice.

So if McLAren is really going to appeal the penalty, this should be the backbone of their argument. The FIA can't both say "it's okay" during the race, and it's stewards go ahead and hand a penalty later. It's
ridiculous.

That has already been discussed. McLaren did not get the OK from the stewards, they got the OK from Charlie Whiting, who has no say in the situation what so over. And Charlies words were "I don't see a problem with it" and then he asked the stewards to take a look. The stewards then penalised Lewis for taking advantage.

The drivers are pretty decided too. I haven't heard a single driver say an advantage wasn't gained...except Lewis.

They got an OK from Charlie Whiting not the FIA. They should have remembered from France that the stewards have the last say not Whiting.

McLaren should also remember that if they have to ask, it's probably not a legal move ;)

Does anyone find it ironic that many people deem the FIA as anti-Mclaren, yet when they allowed Hamilton to be pulled out the gravel AND put back onto to the lead lap at the Nurburgring, nobody blinks an eye.

Well, apart from drivers claiming F1 "isn't a PlayStation game", a big hoo-ha from the media and clarifications being made in the rules to ban that with immediate effect. Lewis hadn't broken the rules at that point, but if he was to do it again, he would be breaking them.

Schumacher was allowed to be pushed back on track at the Nurburg in 2003 so i didn't see a problem there and Lewis didn't score any points there anyway.

It was within the rules, and as barre points out, a similar thing was done for Schumacher in 2003. Also, they've changed that rule now.

The point is the more rules we rules have, the less racing we will see. Do we really want that?

Don't get me wrong, we obviously need rules. I don't want a crazy chaos on the race track. All I want is that the action happens on track, not on the administrative level. -Let's operate!

So please FIA don't take yourself so important. You are not a state with a fucking legislation, knights and a king.

I don't want to make a new thread about this, but:

What could a possible name be for the left hand corner after the Rivage hairpin? It could be named after Boutsen or a driver that has crashed there. It could even be called "no name" in French. I can't speak French, but Google came up with this:

pas de nom

It has a nice sound (par - dare - nom).

Bruxelles? It's spelled French / Walloon, not English.

I have heard that before, but I think its only for the 24 hour race. Upload a track map with that name.

Bruxelles is the "unofficial" name given by someone somewhere. It isn't the "real" name.

It's called "Speakers Corner" by the, well, circuit speakers, because that's the only corner from the "other side" they can see.

Bruxelles = Rivage

I see the new bus stop doesn't have a name anymore, which makes sense. I suggest Hamilton Corner
