A late red flag triggered restart chaos causing both Alpine to crash each other out and Sainz to spin Alonso and thus getting penalized. Verstappen won.

No rain in the forecast so hopefully it will rain
Otherwise: all aboard the DRS train

Last year was a bit of a farce, and races have often been boring. Nevertheless, it´s always a race to look forward to.

Race starts at 5 in the morning so I will not watch it live, but it is good that they put it earlier in the day again so sunset isn´t a factor.

Hate to say that but I prefer the old layout. The new one is an invitation to the DRS train and costs a slight overtaking spot.

Hoping for less redflaggish (lol) race than last year. I mean, Wittich must have drunk too many Fosters. Why else would he stop the race for a little bit of gravel that can be swept in less than a minute under the SC?
Image

But yeah, love the track and the atmosphere of Albert Park. Thank god it's going to be season opener next year instead of soulless Sakhir.

Looking forward to F3 and F2 especially. They're bound to be eventful. The only downside of having F3 and F2 support F1 is that you have to stay up all night. Like, F3 practice will start at 11:50pm (Helsinki Timezone) and F2 qualifying will start at 8:30am, with F1 practices in between at 3:30am and 7.00am. Luckily I can sleep in the day, but if this was any other place (like Chinese GP), no way I would sacrifice my good night's sleep. :tired:

International viewers will actually be able to legally watch the Supercars races this weekend. They'll be streamed on SuperView.

I'd argue it's made the first part of the fast chicane a bigger overtaking spot than the 3 overtakes in its history "overtaking spot" chicane its bypassed

Plus getting rid of chicanes in favour of a much higher speed blast is always an improvement.

I do like the new layout. It's a little bit risky having a DRS section on a flat out kink, but as long as the drivers respect each other...

I felt the old turn 9 was a nothing corner. Very rare that overtakes occurred going into it and it's so similar to turn 1-2.

The thing I don't like about it as it has taken away a good vantage location, it was the best place to see the cars with the exception of turn 1-2.

For me it was similar to 1, 3 and 6, I'm really glad they changed it.

One of my favorite tracks of the year, really looking forward. Let's hope that they don't ruin the only chance of a battle for the win of the year with another stupid red flag. Not that red flag was the problem. Changin tyres during it, that one killed 2011 Monaco GP - the best race ever up to that point imo, and then doing that to last year Melbourne. How it all happens was the perfect recipe for me to get as angry as possible.

But somehow it got even worse, I was so angry with that, I turned it off the PC. Went back only to see the next red flag, like 40s in. I already was feeling bad, got even worse. Never felt so shitty watching a F1 race. I always wondered how some people here ranted sometimes. Then I knew why. Lol. Finally broke after 20 year on the forum.

Anyway, sorry for that, I'll try my best to not repeat that ever again.

Don't you have a job you need to wake up for? Or don't you work on Fridays or something?

Anyway, away with the misses this weekend so no live GP for me.

this track had become FIA and Liberty test bench to create drama and late race action and is quite a sweet spot for it given it is placed in a whole different timezone and is a track with high local attendance

I wonder if they'll pay the teams further damage caused by crashes because they'll happen and it'll be mostly because of the stewards doing bonehead decisions

Race is 1 AM here in Brazil. I have a running event at 6:30, so theoretically I would need to wake up 4:30. Really considering trying to stay awake for the races and run later on straightaway

Sainz is interested in going racing but it seems it's a bit touch and go regarding him being able to withstand the race.

Have F2 and F3 raced here before? I don't remember seeing them. I can see F3 being very eventful. Hopefully not a SC procession.
