It sounds like the call was made relatively recently, and FP3 starts in about 2 hours, so maybe they were restricted to whoever was already there and has a Superlicense.

Or it could be that they were convinced by his performance in qualifying yesterday.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Wishing quick recovery for Sainz. Not the first (and not the last) F1 driver to miss a race due to appendicitis.
Looking forward to see what Bearman can do.

Yeah, he's certainly out of quali. That's a weird one, the back end just went.

Probably wind related, it seems to always be windy here.

Green again. I was afraid that Tec-pro damage would mean end of the session, but no.

Really unfortunate for Sainz, but what an opportunity for Bearman. Hopefully he can stay out of trouble and pick up a few points. I think he has a lot of speed but can be erratic.

Best new track in years. Brings back that high-stakes, high-speed, razor's edge feeling that has deserted GP tracks since ~20 years (at least on camera, due to runoffs and wide roads)

I still vividly remember Verstappen's final qualy lap in 2021 :8:

the final turn could easily turn into the new wall of champions if cars raced qualifying stints in the race

I was about to correct you and point out that Irvine drove for them between Mansell and now, but then I counted the years back to 1999 and died a little :8:
