Well, that was nice to see the final ever F1 win and race for Max Verstappen before he rage quits in favour of some political bullshit behind the scenes

See you in Australia for a dominant Alonso/Perez 1-2

And this same F2 driver has more points in F1 than in F2 currently.

The fight from p13 to p18 was nice with magnussen defending like an animal. I was entertained, so not the worst race. Maybe even a little bit better than bahrain.

Fairly decent action throughout the field, I'm glad the TV directors covered it

Yeah, had a really good time watching this. Even more than the F2 race! As good as that was.

I thought the race behind the Red Bulls was OK. The Magnussen train was entertaining, and Bearman did very well. Mclaren's setup was very interesting. So fast in the twisty sections but no speed to do anything on the straights.

Ricciardo has really disappointed me so far. After that incredible performance in Mexico last season, I was beginning to think that he was back to his old self and a contender for the Red Bull seat. So far he looks worse than Tsunoda, and Perez is driving fairly well.

You don't do that sort of thing without absolutely loving what you do. Respect.

that remembers when football players had to be in a hotel in the day before big games and used to play card games until dawn

Well that was not the race of the century, but the Bearman story arc made the week-end for me. Good, wholesome, heart-warming stuff

after this event among many others, history was made because of an appendicitis and time for our beloved stats

.56th victory for Max Verstappen
.34th pole position start for Max Verstappen (overtakes Jim Clark for 5th overall)
.100th podium finish for Max Verstappen (7th different driver to reach a centennial in podiums)
.Verstappen has held the championship lead for a greater percentage of his career than did Ayrton Senna (29.81%)

.115th win for Red Bull (overtakes Williams for 4th overall)

.Oliver Bearman stats:
-68th different driver to score on his debut
-first GP debutant in a Ferrari since Arturo Merzario at the 1972 British GP
-4th time in history a driver to score points on his debut in the championship driving for Ferrari (last one was also Arturo Merzario, at 1972 British GP)
-youngest driver to debut for Ferrari, aged 18, 10 months and 1 day (record holder was Ricardo Rodríguez with 19y, 6m and 27d at the 1961 British GP)
-3rd youngest to score points in F1 (behind Max Verstappen and Stroll)
-first time since 1968 French GP where 4 british drivers managed to finish on points (those being Surtees, Stewart, Elford and Courage)

Also, this was the first time the grid had a driver who was born at the same year another active driver was champion

I thought I was old in 2009 when the first driver younger than me made their F1 debut (Alguesuari).

Now, well fuck.

The first YouTube video was almost 3 months old when Bearman was born.
