The Athletic is reporting that there is no non-compete and that he is free from the 1st April 2025, which would be 9 months before his contract was to originally end.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

On another note, if EJ did manage to spring his client from his contract 9 months early, that would easily be the second-best deal he's ever made behind only the DHL one.

----------------

EJ is also adamant that no agreement with another team has yet been made, and that Newey will take his time in deciding what he does next.

It still amazes me that these teams are willing to offer up what has to be insane amounts of money to this guy when there is still no absolute guarantee that it will bring success. If we are now at the point where one person makes the difference in a team made up of hundreds of people, then maybe this guy isn't getting the credit he deserves.

It's also amazing how short people's memories are, not every car this guy had his name on won every race. And there were long periods where cars he designed were significantly outclassed by others. Just saying.

Elsewhere, Mario went to Washington today and found some friends.

He's one of the most successful team members in history. 200+ wins and 12 constructors championships, with 3 separate periods of domination. He's either won or been 2nd in the WCC in 28 of the last 33 years.

You can argue that he alone doesn't equal success but he seems to know very well where to put himself.

Spanish media até saying that Sainz has rejected Sauber, who will announce their line-up soon.

He will then go to wherever Max doesn't because Mercedes are interested in him.

It seems that a super license request for Antonelli has been made following his Imola test.

It needs to be reviewed because he's a minor but it seems that Williams is looking to replace Sargeant at Imola.

So what's the deal with Antonelli? Why are they trying to fast track him into an F1 car? What has he achieved at F2/F3 level?

I seem to be asking that question a lot these days about F1 "talent".

I guess they're trying to avoid to happen with him with happened to Verstappen, specially with Audi and Andretti looking around

it is a bold bet, given he's still developing himself in F2, he can burnout as quick as he got into

No way, the superlicence system is sacred, ask them about Herta.

He destroyed the competition on several F4 series on the same year, also winning at GT on his debut. Then went straight to F2. And is already doing some amazing performances, apart from some justified rookie mistakes, but even those show someone that's learning pretty damn fast.

Not sure I would describe his F2 season so far as "amazing" but hey what do I know?

It's the same thing with Bearman, you look up who their daddy is, and it all suddenly makes sense.

Really? I feel that with the Antonelli choo choo hype train he has been average this year to be honest. But he is only a rookie and still learning people say! Yeah. So let him learn. Unless he does a Piastri in 21 (who was far more impressive at the start of his year), he does NOT scream fast track him into F1 now. Let him see out the F2 year and then if he is good, get him in F1 next year.

Would be a different story if he was a multiple F2 race winner already. He hasn't even had a bloody podium FFS. Does that sound like someone who should have the rules broken for them?

Mercedes have already said they won't fast-track him.

It was always the way teams would expect drivers to learn the championsuip in the first season then win in the 2nd, but recently young 17-18 year olds are expected to dominate in their first season or they're written off

Just modern F1 things

well the kid was testing the 22 car this week and got promising times. But is quite different to be in the back of the grid in the crowd

I'd say if he feels ready he can hit the track
