How does that even work? I'm not the most woke person out there, but damn, this reeks of victim shaming/blaming/retaliation and I can understand the company/team making the decision and maybe I'm being naive but how does the wife get to give input into that?

I was thinking the same thing.

So, we have just gone from the driver's dad asking the boss out to the boss' wife asking someone out of a corporation. Just wow

The developments of this story just get weirder and weirder
Apparently tomorrow is International Women's Day, per multiple people on Insta.

Wow, that's horrible PR management if so. Laughably bad.

The BBC is quoting Red Bull as saying that she was 'dishonest'. About what and when was not elaborated on.

Ultimately, she was never going to keep her job regardless of the outcome. She is a PA. If Horner was sacked, his replacement would fire her and bring in someone he wanted to be his PA. If Horner was not sacked, then her position becomes untenable.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Of course Max tried to be neutral in his comments yesterday, but he kinda has to be until something actually happens. So I don't think this is over at all.

Since all speculations are the results of other speculations based on some speculations, I don´t think anyone is placed to have comments on events that maybe have not entirely happened as said speculations suggest.

In other words: sit back, take some popcorn and enjoy the shitshow. But comments are based on nothing.

Most people will automatically assume he is guilty regardless. Because as we all know, humans are incapable of lying or being dishonest.

But this isn't just a he said/she said deal. There's evidence out for anyone to review and come to their own conclusions on its authenticity and what it represents.

I'm really surprised Red Bull isn't getting more flak over their handling of this situation at the moment.

It seemed like a shit show for them on Twitter earlier, but I haven't checked in a few hours.

My wife was shocked that she got suspended and he didn't. Most comments I've seen are to that effect.

I saw some messages. Context was not clear. People who pretended to know the context explained how I should have read these messages. It was not confirmed that this was the correct view, but it was the more saucy one. So everyone followed.

Then some other stuff happened. We still didn´t know the context of part A, but the new stuff could fit in the interpretation of the old stuff so the story continued. Then some people were interviewed who may or may not have anything to do with it, but it was enough to feed the story some more. Conclusions were made on the sheer sight of some people attending or not attending certain events or talking to some other people. We don´t know what they talked about, but the fact that they talked was enough to draw even more conclusions.

As long as Red Bull don´t give official comments (which they never will), every story you hear is just speculation.

Are you certain that the Google Drive contains every piece of evidence submitted?

I personally doubt it, and if what has been excluded paints a significantly different picture of the affair then it may explain the reaction or lack of it. I notice that a lot of the critical commentary from broadcasters is coming from the German-speaking outlets, who are presumably being fed information by Mintzlaff and others acting on his behalf.

Red Bull knows what's out in the public domain regardless of whatever might not be, and to not only pretend it doesn't look bad but also suspend the female involved while taking no action on the male without providing any further context to justify those moves, people are well justified to be critical of them for it. A business like Red Bull knows the truth isn't as important as the brand and how the stink of this affects it. But I guess mud on the brand isn't your first concern if you're focussed on how much power you personally stand to gain or lose.

looks like one of those novels by Arthur Hailey, where the wife of automotive executive gets an affair with a top driver for the brand who eventually dies in a crash in Talladega

The lack of detail provided may also be a protective measure taken by the company in the event any of this ends up before an employment tribunal or a civil court.

Being a private HR matter, Red Bull wouldn't be obligated to publicly share the outcome of the investigation and their reasoning for suspending the employee though. As noted above, we may never get the cold hard facts and probably just get speculation lathered upon more speculation.

Suspect fits the bill. Has a valid motive. Perhaps this suspension ends up being a permanent one...

so if Marko leaves, then Red Bull might have Verstappen and Newey gone?

I don't think Newey cares. Max does reportedly have a break clause that would come alive if Marko leaves.

Marko has told Sky Germany that he is having a meeting with his boss (Mintzlaff) tomorrow. I can't imagine Mintzlaff would agree to suspend him unless there was something very concrete behind it.
