I wonder who's going to be the first to have the balls to call bullshit on this calendar and this kind of races.

How was today any different from Sepang or daytime Bahrain at times?

Sepang and Bahrain have more straights and more room to catch a breath, since this one is a bike track so you have more time turning the wheel and keeping focus, pretty much like Hungaroring but faster

Yeah I think it's a combination of the layout (lots of high speed corners), and they said in the post-race interviews that the 3 stopper meant they were flat out the whole way. Piastri said he basically did 57 qualifying laps

The race was run with 32° and 75% humidity. No vegetation to cool it down, hot lights heating everything even more and constant wheel work.

Fair enough.

Apparantly Alonso said it wasn’t his toughest race.
What a chad.

If they want a Qatar race so bad they should make a tie in with MotoGP earlier in the season

Inb4 they just get rid of the corners between T12 and 16 and make it a long straight with a 90° corner, killing two birds with one stone.

Track location, and temperatures aside, it actually produces pretty decent racing

They are making next year race 5 weeks later in the year, so it should be less hot.

There's an on-board of Stroll appearing to be passing out very briefly in the straight. Very concerning stuff.

This is all quite unprecedented - you would hope there is some serious discussion in the next GPDA meeting about what apparently went wrong here.

It's fair to assume that the current crop of drivers are the fittest ever, simply due to advances in training and whatnot, so it's incredible that so many were affected so seriously.

Imagine if that happens 10 meters before the braking point...

Don't know, it's from the F1TV feed.

apparently we cant bitch and moan about the conditions because the drivers are professional athletes. Cant find the tweet again but it said something along those lines.....

I think the majority opinion is siding with the drivers and calling the FIA out for unsafe conditions. Anyone hanging shit on Sargeant, Stroll or anyone else that struggled needs to give their fat fingers a break from the keyboard.

Funnily enough Martin Brundle is one of those people which has really surprised me. I'm really shocked by that - usually he's the voice of reason but this time he has gone full boomer.

Arguments are being made that they are athletes being pushed to the limit, and beyond. But in things like ultra marathons or ironman events, none of them are piloting vehicles full of fuel capable of 330km/h and pulling 5G fifteen times in 90 seconds. They pass out, they hit the ground, not slam into a wall at a speed the human body cannot survive.

Saying that, the video of Stroll that was posted, don't think that's him passing out on the straight, thing he's just stretching or moving around. Pure speculation, but his fingers are still twitching and people when they pass out are usually doing something strenuous, not resting, which is what the drivers essentially do on straights, they're not under load.
