Say what you will about Liberty, but this would never have been cancelled under Bernie, kudos to them.

At least they didn't wait til the last moment to cancel like Australia 2020.

I'm still up to cancel Barcelona and come back in Imola in 3 weeks

Understandable, but disappointing. I was hoping for a rain affected F1 weekend, but once again we've ended up with too much of it.

Currently it appears that Sunday would have been dry anyway, so this just saved us from inevitable disappointment. :tumble:
But Saturday looks wet, so qualifying and F2 and F3 could have provided excitement. :(

Maybe they can all get on a pre-release copy of F1 2023 and race on that, let us see how buggy it might be :D

Oh well, prevents me bitching about the BTCC and the grand prix racing on the same weekend....again

Too much going on this weekend anyway, so if they recschedule this to a quieter weekend, all the better

If we lose it from the calender, also fine, less pressure on the mechanics and other personell, no drama.

I'm not sure they would have taken such a sensible measure if the there wasn't a river next to the track and made it very obvious the risk of the facility getting flooded as it just did.

Anyway, the right thing was done and it was done in a timely and straightforward manner.

Wasn´t the 1995 Pacific GP moved to later in the season because of an earthquake? Don´t know how long in advance they took the decision.

I see, the earthquake was in january and race was scheduled for mid april

another one was the 1997 Portuguese GP that was changed to Jerez because track managers couldn't upgrade Estoril on time

Both were months in advance and not while they were already there setting up for the race. '85 was the last time that happened.

Bahrain '11 was canned less than a month before the race.

what makes more disappointing is that the swelled calendar makes it near impossible to postpone the race (unless they shorten the summer break), which means one less european round

I find it pretty funny that F1 has been pushing for more races every year but every year something happens and it stays at 22 races.

So we know that when F1 announces a 30-race calendar, something very bad must happen to lead to a cancellation of total 8 races.

Just get rid of the pointless Qatar race. Imola in October would be interesting.

A lot of money was spent on road repair too

Should have cancelled it weeks back and run Mugello instead

Yeah because they knew what the weather was going to do weeks back and also changing grand prix locations only weeks in advance is logistically a walk in the park

It's not about the weather...

#WeGetIt

But Imola is a very nice track as well!

On the bright side, we'll have more time to watch the N24 and Indianapolis. :)
