This session could be improved by just having a 1 hour session, fastest time takes pole

This would just end up like it used to, with cars spending 45 minutes in the garage.

Hoo boy, Red Bull are going to complain forever if Leclerc ruined their laps.

Come to think of it, this short qual does keep the cars on the track.

Perhaps for non sprint races, have a 90 minute FP3 and this short qualifying

Enjoyable session, better than practice

I'd rather have early 2000s schedule, where we had two 45-minute FP3 and FP4 sessions before the qualifying. The more the better.

Well, at least in Miami, Imola, Monaco, Barcelona and Montreal we'll have the usual 3 hours of relaxing practice. No need to stress of missing Fridays.

Normal qualifying should be this short too, that's the only thing I like so far about this new format. 1 mistake and you´re out.

Wait, you actually want more practice sessions that mean jack shit as the teams have their setups honed because of simulations, and practice is more or less just going out there and confirming their sim data was correct :?

Well, it's time for my personal opinion.

I prefer having this format than old ones. Yeah of course it's a weird change, but I don't remember if there was at least one FULL session of practice that I ever watched. Maybe some back in 2007? I just don't like watching few cars on track (that's why I don't like watching WRC even if I know it's amazing). So they now have a fan who's watching 4 sessions (2 qualy and 2 races) instead of just two (qualy + race)

I guess there's more people like me

I don't like the fact that it gives more points to the top teams again. However, I don't like reverse grids (in F1).

I think one lap qualifyings would be more interesting. At least, a bit more tense.

I feel I keep repeating the same things since the first sprint race in 2021.
I just want more track action. If I had bought 200€ tickets, what would I get for Saturday? Barely 1 hour of F1 action. 2 hour should be minimum. I would prefer 3 hours.

Primarily I'm against these gimmicks because they dilutes Sunday GP's specialty. If we have already gotten enough entertainment by the end of Saturday, then Sunday 2-hour might feel uninteresting.
Also, all these changes were done to bring more Crypto.com sponsorship money and social media exposure, both of which should be that last reason to change Sports's rule. You don't change Football rules just to make them appeal new fans. They shall remain the same for centuries to come. So should F1, because it's a sport like Football, not entertainment.

I actually preferred last year's format, though I might be the only one there

Qualy on Friday evening just after getting home from work

Saturday Sprint race has an effect on the Sunday race, as it was intended to be (A QUALIFYING race....)

Oh well, maybe they'll tinker with it every year until they get it right :whistling:

Sargeant out of the sprint and Ocon to start both races from the pits.

this qualifying was good, more because they got so tight on time that they needed to stay on track at all times. Only better than that is a one lap shootout for each driver, like we had from 2003-05

They could divide qualifying into 4 or 5 parts and allow new tyres for each of them. That would keep them busy for all the 60 minutes.

One-lap qualifying will never be accepted by top teams, unless it's hold on place where it never rains...so probably half of the calendar soon.
