The whole yellow flag thing has always been a joke.

Slow down and be prepared to stop?

Or feather the throttle and try not to set a purple sector?

It may have been more sensible to just throw a red flag in this instance.

Verstappen’s blasé reasoning is more of a concern as it demonstrates a lack of comprehension or caring (or both) for the yellow flags. Should be DSQ from qualifying entirely.

3-place penalty for Max

A weak penalty.

as long he stays ahead of Mercedes, no problem

plus, they'll not lift on yellows, the only solution is drop the red on a crash

Stewards are piss weak - should be a pit lane start + 10 sec stop go

Here are a couple of quotes from this article on Autosport.com - https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14679 ... ttas-crash

He completed the lap with a new fastest final sector that was 0.001s quicker than on his first run, and said afterwards: "I was aware that Valtteri crashed."

When asked if he backed off, Verstappen said: "It didn't really look like it did it? No."

Verstappen said "we all know what a yellow flag means" but argued against the validity of questioning his decision not to back off when he saw the crash from a safety perspective.

"I think we know what we are doing, otherwise we wouldn't be driving an F1 car," he said.

"It's qualifying and you go for it.

"If they want to delete the lap, then delete the lap."

I think it was a fair penalty, given the precedence of penalties in similar situations. But I completely understand @

point of how Verstappen seemed to be scaringly indifferent to what he did and could have been handed a harsher penalty.

However, what concerns me more, is the lack of confidence shown by stewards. Once again, we were given the impression nothing would happen - just like Leclerc incidents were just noted in Japan at the first moment - and then they changed their mind after a long time before giving a coherent penalty.

Thanks kals. Incredibly irresponsible and frankly arrogant statements from Max. 3 grid drop seems pretty mild considering the implications of Max's comments. He should've been completely disqualified from qualifying to send a stronger message.

Also, Verstappen was last on track, so his team could have told him to slow down as nobody had beaten his time anyway. Had he lifted, he would have been safe on pole, now he had to admit to the world what an ass he can be.

You can tell he doesn't have memories of Schumacher in his heyday. Michael would never admit failure, no matter how big his mistake was.

Yes one can do that, but that involves having a brain. Stappie does not have a brain.

Surely Vettel should be penalised for crowding Lewis. That was pretty blatant - Lewis had two wheels off the track

Verstappen lost his car and seemed to take Lewis with him outside the track

Over zealous overtake by Verstappen on Bottas costs him, serves him right.
