To be fair, current Formula 1 is equivalent to watching 4 to 6 people repeatedly rape the 14 others. It's rough.

It is concerning to read how unaware race control apparently is of several of the flags available to them. It seemed that the obvious thing to do would have been to hang the meatball flag out at the end of lap 1 and before the car even reached the flag to communicate to the team that the car is considered dangerous and must be made safe before being allowed to continue. Instead there was some sort of negotiation.

Is it because they lost the meatball flag? Was it draped over Charlie's coffin and forgotten about until after he'd already been buried?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

No, its saying you want to prevent something to happen, while you're doing the exact thing you just said you want to prevent.

From what I've read, the FIA communicate with the teams way more through radio and their internal e-mail/messenger system that any flag shown to the teams is merely for the "show" to let everyone else know their intentions.

If they were going to black/orange Leclerc, the team would know a lot earlier than we did, as it would be communicated direct to them and then eventually shown at the start/finish line a minute or so later when the cars came around

After Leclerc passed the pits for the first time, race control should have instantly put out message "Black/Orange flag for car 16" on lap 2, then show the flag if he doesn't pit this time either. And then if driver doesn't pit on lap 3, it's black flag.

Both Renault's have been disqualified for circumventing the rules with their brake bias system. Although it's not actually in breach of regulations, it's considered a driver aid.

Well done Racing Point, this is the way to get ahead when shitty drivers like Stroll can't.

This is a bit puzzling to me. Brake bias gives some performance, but it's not like it compensates for driver input like an ABS or traction control does. It's just something the car does automatically instead of manually, like an engine mapping would change how the engine reacts to the same gas pedal pressure.

I'm sure the FIA has knowledgeable experts that looked into this in detail but it sure sounds like a bit nitpicky and harsh to strip precious points from a midfield team for it.

Of course, the real reason they were DQ'd is that they have apparently invented a quantum driver aid - as the FIA notes, it is both an aid and not illegal.

Always wondered how this process works. How does something like this happen well after the race itself? Don't all cars go close scrutineering all through the weekend by the FIA? More so, how does an opposing team notice something that the FIA missed (or noticed, and deemed legal during their inspection)?

Well, I'd think it's mostly software-related. Hard to find at on-track inspections?

Not sure if this entirely answers your questions but still a good summary of what happened

So because they have a shitty driver they're not allowed to call out another team if they are in breach of the regulations?

The protest had 12 pages. Auto, Motor & Sport leaked a story that a former Renault employee currently on RP staff had all the inside knowledge how Renault operates their brake-bias system and they were waiting to file this protest for a while now. According to the article RP knew about this since August.

So, is it like Racing Point strategically chose when to protest so that they could have a better gain in terms of race standings?

They would have gained more at Monza but I can only imagine they wanted to make sure the protest wouldn't be rejected so they gathered more data. If you file 12 pages it's not "we are unsure what's going on so please take a look". They knew exactly what's going on and had data to prove that. FIA had no choice but to throw Renault out. But it was strategic alright and obtained through inside knowledge in first place.
