With all that going on, they forgot to DQ Vettel's Q3 lap for going over the white lines at the Parabolica, or was that new hardline "we're going to disallow laps if you set a fastest lap over the white lines" stuff only applicable to the non-red cars. :innocent:

Lack of definitive evidence, apparently: https://www.motorsportweek.com/news/id/24365

Just shows up the limitations of that rule

And Kimi has had to take a penalty for a gearbox change.

What utter utter shit. As that screen shot shows all four wheels are off the track. Just didn't want to penalize a Ferrari in Italy.

Very heavy rain right now. It should stop by noon, but there won't be much racing if It goes on like this

This.

With a spare car just in case.

Hockenheim 2001. Nobody goes out in 40mins. Everyone goes out at last minute and it looked like a shit show with some people pulling a Hulkenberg (but to get ahead of the field rather than behind).

That was the reason they changed qualy in the first place. No asshole would want to go out first and sweep.

And btw, people used the tow also at time where it mattered (Hakkinen and Coulthard, USA 2000).

The current format is good at the 95% other tracks. They have qualy tyres (the extra softs given for Q3). It gets people off the couch and onto the race track not to get eliminated. It reduces traffic interference gradually. It works.

Let's not forget history and run full circles to bad ideas.

Current format is miles better than anything else we've ever had

Formula 1 released onboards and radio of the Q3 end farce.

Hamilton, a Renault and Sainz almost crashed into each other at the exit of Curva Grande. There really should've been a penalty or two in there.

one lap qualifying is still better than current format because it had a bigger chance to cause scramble
