if I was from Ferrari I would call both the cars in right after the penalty and get the headlines just by saying "they don't let us race, so we call the day"

they will not win the championship anyway

Binotto - "We won today."

That penalty is proof, as if any more was needed, that motor racing stewards live in cloud cuckoo land.

But what a sorry state this series is in. After 70 laps on one of the best tracks on the calendar, the only talking point is whether a penalty should have been handed out or not.

I am in favor of banning stewards. Just let them race, vettel was penalized by the grass, he lost time to Hamilton. No more tarmac runoff, all grass and gravel and let them race, there really is no need for stewards interfering

I can't wait to see Olivier Grouillard as a steward.

Whether you feel it was penalty worthy or not, if you don’t want to lose races then don’t make race win costing fuck ups. Sadly, Vettel has had too many of those.

Just watch a Truck race at Mosport and the customary last lap wreck for the win instead if you want no stewards taking action :p

It's DOA. You can't appeal that penalty. FIA will break their own rules? Ferrari's ego is really beyond pathetic at this stage.

The saying that F1 is called that because there's only 1 winner never was so true. What a retarded decision.

Seb a true legend and champ with that reaction with switching over the signs.

This penalty is such a bullshit farce if I ever seen one. Mercedes might deserve the other 6 wins cause Ferrari really fucked up. But not this one. And who can't see this has to see a doctor cause there must be something wrong with them.

Neah, Ferrari tries to spin away their ineptitude on the stewards. They are the last team that should play a victim part in modern F1.

C'mon! Someone give Vettel a candy

Nah, the stewards are making Ferrari inept on this one. BIG TIME. Why they don't just handle the trophy to Hamilton already, for the championship and all the remaining races. Cause competition is NOT what they wanna see.

Neither prestige for the sport.

Ferrari has ALL THE RIGHS to appeal on this one. Biggest bullshit since Senna vs Prost in 89.

If that's passive of Penalty. Magnussen should have had 40 5-sec penalties in his career by now. Either dumb rules, dumb steward decision or total lack of consistency. Pick one.

Fair criticism of Vettel, but aren't we all rooting for a sport where more drivers are willing to take risks and make small errors to get the win? The F1 most people here want to see is one where small errors are part of the fight, not something that immediately takes you out of the running by referee call.

Nice, I'm a Brazillian, I saw Barrichello that year and Massa in 2010, and subsequent years have all his motivation killed by team orders or plain right biased strategy. But enough is enough for Mercedes dominance.

Horner was right when he said that they were always changing the rules to hold Red Bull, and now it's not the same. Since 2017 it was more a Ferrari loss than Mercedes winning, also a beautiful nice job of Hamilton and Mercedes of fighting back and taking all they could get even when they start the season with the worse car, really well deserved. But this time it really was just a racing deal and they transformed into this mess.

Vettel loss a lot of races due to his mistakes, but this wasn't one of them. He also was a huge crybaby in a lot of those times, but this time wasn't one of those.

Changing the rules to hold Mercedes ain't really fair, but neither was this sporting decision.

And we have an almost unanimous consensus among drivers that this wasn't a penalty worthy situation. Some of them were very harsh on their criticisms. That's what I call a brand disaster.

I feel sorry for Liberty always having to cover the mess FIA and the teams keep doing.
