the first decision is if a team is dominating, they cannot take part in any decision, as they are well enough

the other decision should be is that a team earns double amount of points of second place team before halfway point, they cannot spend on updates until the end of the season

that or success ballast

So there is that.

But when Mosley was in charge, a lot of people were unhappy with his decisions too.

He brought in grooved tyres. One of the worst things ever to happen to racing.

At least he made decisions.

Mosely didn't have a mafia group trying to get former F1 workers fired from their actual day jobs for no other reason than spite though....

And we still don't really know what happened to Nigel Stepney either....

I don't have any faith in the 2021 regulation changes at all. We all know strong-arming by the manufacturers will result in a tepid wave of changes aimed at moving away from this overdependence on aerodynamics and super-complicated engine formula. Any positive gains will quickly be negated by those same teams anyway and we'll be back to square one. It's what's been happening for the past two decades, so why will it change now? I was hoping Liberty can come in and tear up the old way of doing things but it appears they too have to bend over for the manufacturers?

In the meanwhile, I am more than happy watching only WRC and MotoGP with some degree of dedication. F1 is good enough for a 5-minute YouTube highlight reel.

Oh I am on the MotoGP bandwagon. Have watched it as long as I have F1 (early 90's) but its only really been the last 4-5 years that I actually watch each race live. It is sooooooo much more entertaining than F1 is, even when Marques and Honda are basically doing a Mercedes. Marques at least crashes out from the lead!

Like i said before, the problem with 2019 is the mass media/f1 official channel, that pumps something like this stupid Stroll Norris incident, and some other minor things like that to start a artificial duel/excitement thing,i expect a title before Monaco "youngsters, will they clash again".
Nothing is happening in the races ,even the midfield drives just around, no reliability issues to add something, they make a fuss from a thing that was normal and used to happen 2,3 times a race and nowadays we see a clash and touch once in 5 races.
Of course 2002 and 2004 were boring, but at least care are cool to see live, we have a duel for 3rd between 2 Mercs and Williams, and you could expect regularly one of them failing to see a Bar, Benetton or before Jordan on podium.
1988 was even more crazy, we had so much teams, of course Mclaren was on it's own , but they had it right with the car that year, the years before and after they never dominated in such a manner we at least had Williams and Ferrari challenging, also Leyton House, some podiums for Lotus,Brabham, in 1988 Arrows had a podium.
Some years before Johansson in a Onyx had a podium if im right, Leyton House got in Paul Ricard almost a 1-2 win.
Reliability was a factor, some luck, suprises could happen, nowadays I cant imagine a Renault or Mclaren on podium or even close to top5, and they are the 4 and 5 team.

The problem is we dont have Rosberg in Mercedes cuz im sure he and Lewis would have crashed once till now.
Maybe later in the season when its all or nothing Bottas and Lewis will crash. 2014, 2016 were good season even if they were dominated by Mercedes. But they let them race. They do now but first crash will happen sooner or later. And then it will be like HAM/ROS again...
You cant win championship the nice way. Rosberg realised that in 2015 big time. He has to get his shit together if he wants to be Champ (sure you need a bit of luck too)
And he went or both went in for the kill 2016 even with bad outcome. You can do that if the car is dominant...

2014 and 2016 were not good seasons. The battle for the championship was exciting, but the races were crap. Since the Schumacher dominance, then the Red Bull dominance and now the Mercedes dominance, we have hardly had any good race. You could at least say that 2017 and 2018 were much better because the Ferrari could actually win some races, but that doesn't make the races entertaining to watch.

When Mosley took the charge, FISA which controlled auto racing disappeared and FIA started to control that while also controlling things related to everyday cars (traffic safety etc.). Todt seems to be more interested in that part, while Mosley was more involved in auto racing.

Maybe they should split again with one governing body for auto racing and other for other related things. With different people in charge..

I'll only remember Valencia for the Webber Kovalainen crash.

Valencia could work if they work it the Colin Champman way

"simplify [the aerodynamics], then add lightness [to the slower cars]"

I'll also remember the trackwalk I made, which was fun to do. Corners during the race, container stockage in the summer.
