Two cars in the run off of Turn 1? One of them still "Live" meaning marshals unable to touch it?

Yes, it totally did.

They were way off the track. I'm sure one of them has ended up being pushed closer to the track than when it was parked. Very bizarre

Hope for Leclerc /Norris in Ferrari team in 2020.

You're great, Charles.

For all the talk of Lewis' "luck", he did put on the best pass of the season so far, which pressured Vettel into his spin, so it wasn't like he was completely asleep today.

Motorsport is cruel sometimes, but he's also had his fair share of cruelty happen to him to, and you can only take what's served up in front of you

Leclerc the man of the weekend, but sometimes even that isn't enough :(

Mercedes is in no way the fastest team atm, so yeah, there'll hopefully be a lot of opportunity for Charles to gain redemption

Yeah, you got a shitload of tarmac run-off and you throw a SC for two parked cars. Geez, this ain't Martinsville...

Margot Laffite, daughter of Jacques and French TV commentator, is nearly crying for Leclerc.

So Lewis and Mercedes luck into yet another win, gift wrapped on a platter. They kept themselves in the game with that third stint though so Ferrari have a ton of work to do to iron out these issues.

Funny to read comments like Mercedes aren't the fastest team at the moment LOL They completely thrashed the field in Australia and had very strong race pace this weekend, it was only their one lap pace that was lacking compared to Ferrari who had the straight line advantage. They're very much there and all the more reason for Ferrari to sort their issues out as they can't be leaving points on the table.

Mercedes is still the best, specially after they get rid of softer tires. Too much consistency and good display of drivers

once they depart to Europe it'll be even more easy (and boring)

I dunno man, it looked like Ferrari had this race locked down before they self destructed....

Lewis still gave us the best overtake of the season though, causing Vettel to forget how to steer for a bit.

Lewis on the mediums was faster than Vettel, so I see where Karan is coming from. He lost out from that stint on the softs

Ferrari would've had this race locked down if Vettel had built up a bigger gap in stint 2 when he was on the yellows and Hamilton was on worn reds. To only have a 3 second advantage after stint 2 with better tires? Weak. Should've been much more, if they're the fastest team at the moment, like you say. That's when it went downhill for Ferrari, and then the mistake was just a byproduct of that by coming out in Hamilton's clutches. Not sure if pass of the season. He had a strong DRS advantage going into that corner and there's a significant amount of grip and space on the outside of that corner as it opens up and all he had to do was leave enough space to Vettel, after seeing some of Seb's mistakes from last season, and he had it in the bag.

can we believe that Ferrari had that failure programmed in a scenario that had Vettel in 2nd so the german could snap the lead to win

in that one we can see that Vettel clearly blew his chances

Sure it is.

But that would have been for the 2nd place, not the win.

You're right to say that Lewis had been at the good place to get the luck, because you need to be there to be lucky.

I don't want to underevaluate Lewis 's great pass, but Vettel is old and burnt now. Leclerc sent Lewis 10 seconds behind. No way he could have beat Charles without that big lucky event. Again.

Hamilton was strong in the early part of stint 2 but those reds dropped away surprisingly quickly. But yeah once he undercut Vettel for stint 3, Ferrari once again made the mistake of pitting Vettel a lap too late, and then Hamilton's speed advantage on the yellows, it was game over for Vettel. Like I said, very strong race pace for Mercedes this weekend. You definitely can't conclusively say they're not the fastest team at the moment.

It was a great move, but it did look like all four wheels went off the circuit. I wouldn't want to see those kind of moves penalised, but that's exactly what they did when somebody (Grosjean?) pulled off a cracking move around the outside at turn 4 in Hungary.
So, correct decision, but no consistency. :p

I was looking at it on the reddit gif of the spin, he just about keeps half of his right rear on the track *shrug*

But don't forget, this year is "Let 'em race, have at it boys" etc so maybe the FIA aren't gonna be quite so anal about this stuff

And it's only the pass of the season cos it's....race 2 and what else do we have to compare it to? Max on Vettel in Australia is the only other contender I guess...

This is the tarmac run-off video game era, period. Do you forget how Rosberg used to swerve people off track here in years past? Either put the gravel back or accept the fact those kind of moves are now reality in F1.
