Last year in the first qualifying of the Australian Grand Prix, there were graphics with small dots, which showed much more in detail how the lap was. I thought that was cool. Why did they skipped that?

Furthermore I would like to see how much a car is in front or behind the current pole lap time. It would be cool if they could draw a line so that we can see it while it is happening, and not waiting for the 2 section times.

I don't think teams will allow to share where exactly their driver/car is faster and where slower. It pretty much shows the strong and weak points.

so Italy is not there. Also this year national tv lost all the rights to show f1 so in the Ferrari country the only way to see f1 will be on sky pay tv. Then one wonders why so many people moves to pirate streamings

wait a minute, does it mean if a Brazilian driver will win a race in the future we won't be able to hear again that odd laser music that always reminded me as if a giant japanese robot who loved abba music suddenly started attacking the planet screaming "brasiuu brasiuuu"?

that's a stupid reason.

what is wrong seeing a lap where you can see constantly whether the driver is above or below the pole lap time? I would love to see that. And even for the other cars it would show how much distance 0,2 seconds is. Our commentators in Belgium usually have no clue until a car is passing the S/F line. Often they are convinced of something, but they get it all wrong.

RTBF or Telenet?

Without Globo, I think this would never happen tbh. Especially with Liberty providing an eventual Portuguese speaking commentating crew.

Telenet probably.

Gaeten Vigneron is decent at RTBF. He needs a good co commentator though. Him and Tassin used to be amazing.

Apparently the OTT service will have multiple language commentary options to suit all regions where it will be available & will take commentary from existing broadcasters rather than producing there own.

English commentary will be from Sky, German from RTL, Italian from Sky Italy etc...

All the extra content & Pre/Post race analysis will be produced by FOM using an on-air team that will be announced next week, Expected to be Will Buxton, Rosanna Tennant, and Tom Clarkson. I've also seen Gary Anderson doing some stuff on the F1 facebook account this week so maybe he will also be involved in some way.

They hope to have a desktop version of the service ready for Melbourne with dedicated app's for various devices coming later.

IF there ends up been a working VPN solution, Goodbye Sky

I would literally pay double for the option to hear C4 commentary over Sky

Triple for the option to hear Ben Edwards as lead and Martin Brundle as co-commentator.
That would be the best commentary combo since Murray-Brundle imo

But ho-hum, We're not allowed this due to short sighted heaving all the UK rights to Sky Sports
If they do decide to incorporate it, expect another price rise. :yuk:

Only because it showed up to Joe Bloggs which broadcasters were scrimping on their bandwidth to save money.
(The graphics were so small on low bandwidth HD and SD they merged into a blog blob on screen instead of looking great).

Pass me my tin foil hat please.

I didn't read the link, but, to be honest, for me, and might be their reason as well, I prefer the thriller that is trying to guess what the split will be. And only 2 times during the lap is just perfect for it.

It's not like we get to properly follow laps anymore since the one-hour session and the one-lap qualifiers were ditched. At the end of each session, it's all a fixed camera on the couple last corners, with cars coming by the checkered flag and setting a time.

if that's the logic so ditch all intermediate times either to keep drama on

Or not show any times at all. For TV or the teams.

The checkered flag drops, and after 5 minutes, the final timesheet is shown.

Now, that would be drama.

It was fun when it happened at Hungary.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Still better than the dullness that was single lap qualifying

Better yet, hide the times from the driver/team too.

That hiding the times thing isn't as silly as it sounds. I'd like to see it for a race like Monaco.
