Well, at least they've got plenty of time to make sure the suspension is on the right way.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

More to the point, is Sam Michael at the test? ;)

This is a good nose job, IMHO. It's not easy to spot in a photo, so I bet it will be difficult to spot at all when the car is in motion. Good effort!

Found this quite interesting. I had thought recently that there would now be a risk of the noses going under the cars instead of over, but I assumed they'd thought all that through and that I'm just a stupid layman. If Newey's right about this and the huge dangers of the batteries catching fire, it does make you wonder if the FIA have actually thought about this instead of just making up these rules as they go along

It's weird, it doesn't look like it brings nearly as much air under the car as FI does. Of course this is a completely uneducated comment, they know their business better.

: thought the same about noses plowing under the car in front. With today's vast racetracks, it might be preferable to take off and eventually roll a couple times on flat ground (the cars withstand it pretty well), instead of receiving a gearbox to the face.

Much like Indycar.

I heard some sounds from youtube from test today and its similar to GP2...
But its probably not loud like it was last year

When i come to a F1 event, usually when GP2 race is on, my ears dont hurt, but when a F1 car drives past me my ears hurt until i adopt to the loud F1 sound. But for GP2 cars there was nothing :(

Like with all rule changes that slow them down, I'd expect much of the performance loss to be clawed back pretty quickly.

Maybe at the start of this year cars will be upto 3-4 seconds slower than in the past, But by the end of the year & especially for 2015 I'd expect that difference to be lower.

There is a myth among some F1 pundits and fans that engineers easily claw back performance pretty quickly every time they try to slow the cars down.

When a regulation really is meant to slow the cars down, there is not much you can do. The thing is that most of the times, the regulations restrict the car far less than people expect.

Pat Symmonds talked about that in 2009, in a podcast, where the interviewers believed cars had 50% less downforce for 2009, when in fact, the regulations would restrict it to about 80% of 2008 levels, and that without DDD and exhaust diffuser. When the cars had DD or exhaust blown diffuser on, they had more downforce than 2008 cars, albeit they were less efficient, ie, had more drag.

The laptimes didn't fall as much as people expected in some cases because there was always something to cover it up, like KERS and slick tyres coming back in 2009, which made the cars faster than previous ones. Then, Pirelli came and made cars slower but DRS masked laptimes once again.

This time, there is no thing to cover it up. The cars are really being slowed down on every area. Unless they start extracting tones of power out of these PUs

Do the new engines have any problems with throttle lag?

Gary Anderson already covered this. It will a tiny lag compared to 80's turbos.

That aside, at least I'm quite satisfied with the sound of the PUs from the videos that popped up of the testings, so far

The Caterham is set to be launched any minute now. Phil1993's reputation hangs in the balance.

I hope this year we can have a full dominance from Ferrari and Mercedes, I'm confident we gonna see that and other teams will have to eat it. Gonna be beautiful If we see a close dispute between these two teams.
