I still think a revised barrier to deflect like coldtyre posted should be implemented. Fair enough with the bump and all, but there is still a multitude of other things which could go wrong into that braking zone. I think the current barrier did a pretty decent job though, but it's still a pretty bloody dangerous area.

Yeah but it's already happening, Rosberg came flying towards potential traffic with the current layout.

The idea is that if a driver is in a situation as desperate as Perez' (which can happen with a mechanical failure, bump or no bump), help the poor lad by scrubbing some speed and letting them smash in another 120kph moving car instead of a still wall.

This would be a good place to implement my water-runoff idea. Have the runoff area slope downwards, then fill it with water so it gradually gets deeper. Would slow the cars down without them rolling, and it'd be good fun to watch

God, why don't the FIA just employ me now.

Alan Baldwin:

The latest on Sergio Perez is that he had a good night in hospital, will have another scan this morning and will see FIA doctors today

It's amazing how you aren't employed.

Really interested to see about strategies today. Theoretically, Lewis starts 9th with free tyre choice. The grid is a tad mixed up as Alonso has been fast all weekend and is behind Webber. I hope Button stays 2nd into Turn 1, because Webber is so slow compared to Vettel. Meanwhile Schumacher is up in 5th and thinks a podium is possible. Tasty stuff.

And how it will all fold out:

Vettel will blast away, Webber behind him.
Button will end up 3rd and Lewis will be stuck behind slower cars and finish 7th.

It will suck balls and everyone will say Monaco is boring.

You can't have good nights in hospital. The last time I was in hospital I checked myself out because I didn't want to spend the night there.

Probably. Hopefully a SC will come out because no-one knows what to do re tyres in that sort of situation.

Sergio Perez will remain in hospital for another night, and will undergo another brain scan on Monday. Recovery going well though

This could be a good alternative at the chicane, putting armco or SAFER barrier in red:

This way cars would slide along the wall and be deflected towards the bureau de tabac straight and suffer less damage.
There's no additional danger for drivers exiting the chicane than there already is now.

Anyway they can't really keep that separator like that. If they put it further, it will be a danger for the cars on the small straight after the chicane.
Seems like this idea is actually been talked about:

There have been various suggestions about how to make that spot safer including the idea that a barrier could run diagonally from the armco on the right to the left side of the point which Perez hit, thus taking away the impact with the point.
