D'Ambrosio isn't in the same league as Kovalainen and Fisi only struggled with Ferrari in 2009 because that car was tricky to drive. Kova is a known quantity at Enstone and it is very clear that the Lotus is a good car. His performance today is good, but it shouldn't be a shock.

All that is true, but one does not expect that it would be that easy to adopt to a strange car.

Lol at marshalls.

Makes me realize that maybe the Marussia has a real weight distribution problem :p

Pic will start last due to a gearbox change. Unless others around him get penalties too.

Interesting to see McLaren with Verizon sponsorship (due to the tie up with Vodafone, one presumes) when Vodafone sold Verizon earlier this year.

Also, is Vettel's helmet different today?

Yes but that only happened a little over two months ago, so with any sale of this kind there will be intricacies within contracts that state certain things do not change for many months until after the sale is completed.

These had to be the three most boring free practice sessions I have ever seen in F1.

Can't see either Ferrari making it to Q3.

Not very much video clips to post, eh? ;)

Cooler weather obviously hindered Heikki's performance. On the other hand lower temperature suits better for Williams than high. Qlf will be interesting. Not in terms of pole fight, though.

Yes.

Impressive times by Bottas on both sets of tyres; would be awesome to see him score a point or two.

I found them more interesting than all the practice sessions in the Asian races the last couple of weeks. At least on this track it is exciting to watch the cars go round with those fast flowing corners. Sure, not a lot of spins or crashes but the field was close and we saw some surprises in the results. That makes a practice session good imo, not the amount of spins or crashes.

I think that RB, Mercedes, McLaren, Lotus, Hülkenberg and Bottas will make it to Q3. Ferrari was already weak there in 2012.

Who actually thinks free practice sessions are entertaining?

Kubica on Sky saying his problem is that he doesn't have the rotation in his wrist so has to use his shoulder to help move his arm enough to turn the wheel & an F1 car doesn't give him the room to be able to do that.

Said he could jump in an F1 car & probably be OK on some circuits but could not drive on circuits which require more steering angle as he'd struggle to turn the wheel enough.

Both Mercedes & Ferrari have offered him a test when/if he's ready.
