Wondering what this race would look like with Verstappen not messing up.

I liked it. We had 4 cars fighting for the win and 3 different strategies - with the weirdest one being the winner.

Verstappen is essentially making a 0-stopper,and his lap times are still fine. And they predicted a two stop race. What the actual.

F1 is a "Fuck you logic" sport for years.

Wondering also if Leclerc could have attacked Lewis had he not lost 4 seconds in his final stop.

Not a surprise really. Mercedes always have tons of margin in their pocket when it comes to race pace, even on used tires. We've seen this all season so it should not come as a surprise. Easy win for Hamilton in the end. Oh well, at least the first couple laps were eventful.

Also Croft said Constanduros wasn't there but that was clearly him doing the podium announcements, right?

Hard one to make sense of on C4, but interesting Vettel and Lewis still have a bromance going on based on their post race interviews on that show. Bit aggressive by Seb on the start, but what the hell, he knows the FIA won't penalise him now even if he breaks their cardinal rules like jumping the start so why not shove someone out of bounds at 150MPH?

And I like Max, but, like Seb, emotions are his weakness.
Whereas Seb turns it inward, gets self critical and makes mistakes on his own, Max never sees himself at fault, gets angry at everyone else and makes stupid moves a calm, reasoned driver never would
Sometimes that results in amazing races with Brilliant overtakes, other times he overdrives, makes stupid moves and ruins his and other people's races needlessly
He's the closest we've had to Montoya since he retired, I guess. At least you never get a boring, cruise and collect and pass in the pits from Max, put it that way.

OK race in the end, 5/10 I suppose. Midfield looked ok, but once again it seems the top 3 teams are almost equal in the race (at least at high altitude land I guess) and it doesn't matter who is out front, they can use clean air to make sure their tyres don't overheat and ease to victory
Ferrari might have a slight edge in qualy, but in the race it's even stevens, ie the dirty air is a great leveller, if you get it in front of you, you're staying behind even if you have a 2000BHP V12 engine.

So yeah, the 2017 higher aero really, really fucked f1
If they'd stayed with 2009-2016 spec, the top teams might have a chance and dirty air wouldn't be the number 1 thing that ruins races, not team dominance, bad strategy, reliability or finances or anything else people like to moan about

Unless 2021 is a massive sea change in reducing downforce, the FIA can seriously get fucked
