Max's average starting position over the last 5 races remains 8th.

Good session, they really worked for that one. Seeing Alonso randomly pop up there is always entertaining.

If Max had not aborted his 2nd last lap he would have comfortably been on pole. Oops.

What a weird miscommunication. Red Bull didn't inform Max he shouldn't abort his previous lap, and only told him to abort when he was in the last sector on his last fast lap?! Total joke.

Yeah it's odd. The team would have known he didn't have enough fuel to do two more flying laps in which case they would generally notify him of that prior.

Makes me wonder if it's something else not related to the fuel level though that's the most obvious conclusion. Perhaps he was just on the limit of fuel reserve and they weren't 100% sure if he would have enough with the track getting quicker.

And this isn´t a track like Spa or Monza where passing is just a formality.

SCs, VSCs, more rain, DRS and the fastest car will mean it won't be easy for Max but it won't be impossible either
Also start crashes, maybe

Plus the mandatory Ferrari fuck up hasn't happened yet, Red Bull have got theirs out of the way early.

I also bet Red Bull will be banking everything on getting Perez ahead of Leclerc at T1 and controlling his pace so the pack backs up enough for Max to pick them off 1 by 1
If its dry, expect a soft start for Perez and mediums for LEC and Perez in the lead by T1

I'd say Leclerc will be too busy defending Perez and Hamilton will take the lead to not lose it

They've already delayed the start procedure, does this mean the 3 hour timer doesn't start at 8pm?
