I so hope Jenson is sat on a beach somewhere with the biggest possible smile on his face.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Let's not jump to conclusions, perhaps the McLaren is blindingly fast.

Man, with the other photoshops on this page, I really thought someone was taking the piss about the Mercedes wheelbase, but this is actually real.

Amazing how a chassis this long can even be rigid enough for F1 purposes.

Another thing: forget about getting away with sidepod-to-wheel contact. You're guaranteed to shred your tyre and good for a puncture if that happens.

It's not all bad news for Honda - Alonso just managed to end a lap by going past the pitlane rather than into it.

Granted, he came in on the next lap after that, but a 2-lap stint is progress.

All the teams are no doubt holding their cards close to their chests at this point, but Mercedes haven't disappeared off into the distance in terms of laps covered - I think Hamilton did more than double Vettel on day one last year.

Monday's times:

Of note (and also not, because it's the first day) is the fact that Hamilton's best time was set on softs, and Vettel's only a short time later on mediums. No accounting for fuel load, of course.

if they change the livery the engine will start working magically

Or any other gimmick... Loong way until we find the real speed of those cars.

I don't get why the front tyres are so much wider this year.

So cars don't look much better than previously

tyres are very hard and don't degrade AT ALL

drivers are already confirming earlier fears: it's nearly impossible to follow someone.

Why the fuck did they change the rules? Just so we can have shark fins and horrible T wings?

Fuck F1, I hope the new owners know they've bought a shit product.

If the cars are supposed to be 5 seconds faster I guess Sauber brought their 2016 car.

With their 2016 engine as well.

Unless they make the rules, rules that are actually developed with overtaking and racing in mind, nothing will change.

I love how all the drivers like the cars and the tyres, but immediatly say the racing will be shit.

The racing may still be shite, but if you take off the poo-coloured glasses you have to admit the cars look better even with the sharkfin.
