Maggots, Eau Rouge, Curva Grande, the final corner at Interlagos ring any bells?

None of those corners are in tunnels.

Yes, but he wrote the sentence suggesting that the tunnel is the fastest corner in F1, not the fastest tunnel.

I think the speeds at Monaco will be much lower than imola, and the fastest section has good run off, which will have a major effect on safety.

Monaco has the fastest corner in F1 in the tunnel.

From what I've heard, the corner in the tunnel was the fastest in all of F1, over 160mph.

If not, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's at least 3 corners at Spa faster than that.

Yeah well this detail alone is probably a good reason for you (and the rest of us in America) to stop watching and listening to the Speed F1 coverage... ;)

It's just Woodski being Woodski. He doesn't mean it, he just likes getting a rise out of people.

Seriously, don't take anything he says seriously.

I think both Blanchimont and Eau Rouge are about 300km/h? (186 mph)

The former being the quickest of the two, obviously.

Yeah now that I think about it that'd be true.

Point still stands that Imola is perfectly safe.

Everybody knew that sort of accident was eventually going to happen with the new corner and it's happened twice.

Marcel Tiemann still hasn't recovered 2 years later. Still can't run because of the pain in his legs and still has compromised vision.

What is pissing me off is that if they only put the wall just by the track, he would be fine by now (see the angle when he leaves the track, would have been a huge hit but mostly sliding).

Same mistake as for the old Tamburello, they keep thinking more run-off is the answer. In fast, wide-radius bends you want to have the wall as close to the racing line as possible, not facing the cars.
Combine it with a SAFER barrier and you will never have such impacts.

How that piece of track was ever approved for even Grade 2 status is hard to believe. And it does nothing to improve overtaking anyway because the track isn't straight.

If they want F1 back at Imola use the bike Chicane and remove the Villeneuve chicane, that would make Tosa an overtaking place.

Cool, great to see him back. Ferrari should gamble and take him for next year.

It isn't like he could do any worse than Massa.

It all depends on his arm though. His wrist especially.
