Whenever I hear this kind of speech from a race driver, I can't help hearing a little voice in my head yelling "CHICKEN!!!!!!"

Of course, he's the one risking his biscuit while I'm sitting on a dry, warm sofa. But still, you can do it Jenson. Numerous grand prix were raced in those conditions in the past, it sure won't be comfortable, but you can do it.

Too late. He did bitch about the track conditions a bit :p

Well, normally I would say 'drive more slowly, then', but on this occasion, looking at the forecast, he might have a point.

Oh, and anyone in south Devon will be swimming out of their houses tomorrow.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Formula One needs to do what North Korea does and create artificial weather systems to avoid these adverse conditions.

Not so much an issue of a poor drainage system, The problem is that we've had over 1 months worth of rainfall in about 2 days.

If we were having the sort of rainfall we usually see around this time of year things would probably be fine, The amount we've had in such a short space of time is very unusual & has caught everyone out.

Can I clarify something as never been to Silverstone. Do the car parks have any sort of pavement or are they just on open grass?. All photos I have seen are tractors pulling cars out of muddy fields. Might be a good idea to lay aesthetically pleasing bricking down with drainage to avoid the bog situations they have (if they don't already have paved parking)

Silverstone WEC 2011 was grid locked for an hour on the way out.

The campsite is muddy, but not terrible. I'm fairly near the exit so I'm hoping the C2 will make it.

It's squelchy, but not horrendous.

Cloudy here this morning. No rain overnight, track is drying but still damp.

Three new grandstands, a LOT more demand (and sales) for tickets, and no extra parking. The weather was expected too, and has been for about 2 months. That seems like Silverstones fault more than the weather.

On my way to Silverstone from Birmingham. So far no rain but very dull atm.

Seems like it will be in that way for the morning and then possibly heavy rain in the afternoon.

Yeah I don't think they have any of that 'bricks in grass' stuff. They have got some large hard surfaced car parks (kind of gravelly), but I think the majority are normal grass fields.

Felt a spot of rain out in the paddock, nothing more.

I think most of the drivers are here. More devastatingly, Ferrari don't do hot chocolate.

Keep us updated with the weather and you might be taking over Fabs at the end of the weekend.

@SChecoPerez

Very bad traffic to get into the Circuit!! And they close one line, not a good idea... Hopefully all drivers can make it for Fp3 ;)

Has someone put a rocket in the Caterham? It's the loudest car by a country mile.

I have brought my hearing aids with me so I can try to listen out for the cars.

My last F1 race was at Spa in 2001 and it was great listening at the cars going over Eau Rouge.

GP3 qualifying underway and the track looks dry, but it's drizzling.
