Does it have to be F1 or can it be any series?

According to a Spanish newspaper:

How shocking...

Big ass meh moment as he kept hinting at something exciting like his own team (Ferrari b-team). While that was unlikely it's more exciting that this expected move.

I think it is brilliant if true. McLaren will be a big team once again.

Alonso has said for the second time when asked that he would like Button to stay with McLaren. This is interesting, although not entirely surprising - I reckon he is trying to play politics already and avoid having another Hamilton in the other garage.

Red Bull
Ricciardo - confirmed
Kvyat - confirmed

Williams
Massa - confirmed
Bottas - confirmed

Ferrari
Vettel - not confirmed but certain
Raikkonen - confirmed

McLaren
Button ?
Magnussen ?
Alonso ?

Force India
Perez - confirmed
Hulkenberg - confirmed

STR
Verstappen - confirmed
Sainz ?

Lotus
Grosjean - as good as confirmed
Maldonado - confirmed

Sauber
Ericsson - confirmed
Nasr - confirmed

Marussia ???

Caterham ???

Forza Rossa ???

So apart of one Toro Rosso seat, which will go between Sainz and Vergne, there is nothing left but McLaren. So either Button or Magnussen will have to find another series for next year.

Unless we get 3 car teams ofcourse.

But for what team? Porsche is finalized, Nissan is US based, Toyota have counted him out, and why would Audi reshuffle their full season line-up? I would love to see Button full season in WEC, but it is more realistic that he will end up in F1 after all, or in a 3rd car at Le Mans (which I don't think will be his preferred solution).

I always thought it would be Alonso-Magnussen but right now my feeling is Alonso-Button and Magnussen as a third driver again. After two years or so he'll get another chance in a race seat.

Not very logic of course, but who knows.

Farm Mags out to Indycar?

break with all the past: ditch Button + Magnussen (+ S. Michael; mission accomplished).

Hire: Alonso + Vandoorne.

Win-win situation. McLaren has (what is supposed to be) the top driver and lines him up next to a rookie. Ideal for Alonso too, as a rookie would never pose any threat to the Spaniard.

Hang on, I thought you reckoned Vandoorne wasn't very good? You do flip flop a lot.

Dude, you have to put in footnotes about when you are serious or not.

Vandoorne will be so upset that he didn't continue talks to STR last year...
