I remember when TC was banned in 2008, a certain jounalist Mark Hughs wrote an article after Jerez testing describing how Massa massively messed up the exit while everybody else was smooth. Massa went on to only lose the championship in the last lap of the last race later on.

Just read this on a youtube comment:
"Jerez 2012 testing has been on bbc red button " But its available to UK viewers only."

I suppose he's taking the piss as I think it would have already been mentioned here if that was the case, right?

And oddly enough, it wasn't actually lost in the last race, but in the first 2. In Australia Massa messed up the exit of T1, and the following race in Malaysia he again messed up a corner exit trying to keep up with Raikkonen and ended up in the gravel. Both of which i reckon happened because of not addapting to the lack of TC quick enough.

IIRC, in Malaysia it was not traction related, he spun in the mid-corner(apex) of T6

Yep he put down throttle too early. But that was the sole incidence with Massa on throttle control and the race start is always tricky. I can't really count on that supports Massa can't drive without TC argument.

And all that stuff in Melbourne doesn't really matter because it was the car that eventually broke down.

Pretty predictable reply I know, but that's a bit rich for a guy who lost the 2008 WDC by the slimmest of margins. Massa ain't the greatest and he's probably outstayed his welcome at Ferrari, but he's had his moments.

You could actually also point to his engine blowing up in Hungary with 3 laps to go whilst leading or the Singapore pitstop gaffe as to why he lost the title as well. All in all whilst 2008 was mildly entertaining the quality of driving bar Kubica and Alonso in the 2nd half of the season was absolutely dire from the top guys. Which is a stark contrast to 2007 where they were impeccable bar one or two boneheaded drives/mistakes.

It was 2nd slimest marginal, Prost lost by 0,5 points to Laude in 1984. If Glock had finished ahead of Hamilton, they would have tied with points but Massa would have been the champion because he had more wins. But if Räikkönen had not have so much his usual bad luck during the season, it would have been him to challenge Hamilton for the title.

I don't know to what level tiebreakers go, but I'd be a bit peeved if I lost the title because the other driver had more 16th places than me.

Suprisingly enough, according to the Sporting Regulations, if counting the number of x places is not enough, the Championship will be determined according to 'such criteria as FIA thinks fit'.

One lap, one on one race in a Formula Ford car. That would be awesome.
