I find it ridiculous that half the field will score points.

I hope Liberty are paying very close attention to this fiasco. Such a shame.

Meanwhile, this gets us our first glimpse of a proper 2017 car, even if in scale form:

they should work that money distribution better and go back to a simple points system like the old 10-6-4-3-2-1

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a new team to enter. If I was a betting man I'd put my money on F1 losing at least 1 more team before a complete new one enters.

that only worked when more cars retired in a race. Back then a Minardi could finish 6th or 7th, now the "new" teams could not even reach top 10, apart from two exceptions for Marussia/Manor

If the new owner was dead serious about smaller teams, they would have given them some sort of loan or contacts from their own network. They (likely) didn't do anything, so I will not hold my breath.

Manor had such a good year thanks to their partnership with Merc. And now even less seats available. Brilliant. Bernie did an awesome job.

They just got in so might not have enough time to help them.

The problem was the guy who owns/owned Manor thinks he's some sort of demi-God and doesn't like being offered advise.

According to bob varcha on twitter Bernie admitted on Friday that cvc knew how to have healthy teams but just sit back and collected the checks.

Hopefully this will result in a few people sueing them for malpractice and loss of income. For teams like manor and caterham it's too late but not for their suppliers and Sauber.

Of course. They're stupid but they're not THAT stupid.

The teams agreed with the prize structure when they signed up to F1, they've no comeback, that's like saying the gambler can recover his stake from the casino after he looses his money became the casino know the odds are in their favour.

Well. One could argue they where forced to sign.
And they agreed to a percentage. CVC could have taken a smaller slice of the profit. Dividing 300 million or 500 million is a big difference if you get 5%

Any news about the Monza layout change? Only 6 weeks till first WTCC tests and I haven't seen any pictures about the presumed work there. So I guess it's not going to happen.

I have no idea about the removal of the chicane and the change to Curva Grande, but it looks like the "Dunlop" bridge, leading into Variante Della Roggia is no more: http://www.f1i.com/infos/lun-elements-p ... -de-monza/

Yeah, I saw that. But didn't they also plan to remove all the trees from the right side of the Curva Grande. I'd think that needs at least months of work.
If they only have time to put gravel at Parabolica and nothing else, that's fine by me. :p

I really don't get how all journos and fans have become so caught up in ZOMG FAT TYRES that they have forgotten that massive aero grip and stupidly complex front wings is the easiest way to kill overtaking.

I can't wait for the reactions of people when the drivers say they can't get within 3 secs of the car in front in testing

Author:  LucasWheldon [ Wed Feb 01, 2017 3:47 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: 2017 F1 Random Discussion Thread

can't they just set a max points system to front aero to limit winglets and constant development that create front dirty air?

or just 2 adjustable simple blades on each side
