Is it just me or is autosport.com doing a very lazy job reporting on the grand prix? Nothing on Torro Rosso, Force India or anything more on Manor.....

British magazine, Hamilton won. What more do they need to tell.

The quality of Autosport is not what it used to be, with a fairly objective and professional opinion in the past to OOH us Brits are great! nowdays

When Red Bull was dominant it appeared every other team and even the FIA tried everything to stop innovations by Red Bull (it is against regulations etc). So last year Mercedes won everything and what happend? Nothing.. This year? Maybe even more so, but no one seems to care. Mercedes dominance ruins the sport for me. And the dominance is the outcome of the ongoing rule changes.

How quickly we forget the mid season banning of FRICS, which was rumored to be because Red Bull and Ferrari asked Charlie whiting about it last year and was (perhaps erroneously) seen as the main thrust of the Mercedes dominance.

I feel sorry for Renault in all this really. Yes, they've struggled, but the way Red Bull are playing it, it feels like red bulls problems are 100% renaults fault.
Meanwhile when they were dominant, Adrian Newey and their blown diffusers were getting all the credit with Renault credited as a mere bit part "and also thanks to our engine partners..." player in the success.

Red Bull are just playing the game, using every avenue to try and get things to go their way again.
Sadly as it seems they have no ability to fight on track, expect a lot more of this shit over the course of the season...

This, I couldn't agree more.

The issues for Red Bull run deeper than Renault merely struggling. In the space of one season they've lost their star driver and they are loosing their star designer.

I think in a similar way about Red Bull. All they do is complain and make Renault responsible for the fact that they're not winning. Even worse is that they ask for this or that which is just ridiculous. I guess I read something about some kind of standard engine, not sure though, but what should McLaren say then? They're not demanding something to be changed in a drastic way just because the Honda isn't running as well as the Mercedes. They put their energy in the solution of the problem and Red Bull is just complaining. Then again, I wouldn't expect something else from them.

I direct you to 1988, 2002 and 2004.

1992, 1993, 1995 and 2011 get honorable mention.

This kind of domination is nothing new.

No shit it's nothing new. It's something you don't want repeated.

I agree, and yet when you try to legislate the ability to dominate out, which is what they've done to a degree, what happens is a set of rules get crafted that make the liklihood of utter obliteration by one team more possible since the window to innovate and close the gap is smaller. Any team (Mercedes here) that hits the magic combination isn't likely to face any stiff opposition.

The Red Bull Renault partnership hasn't exactly been happy throughout. They have tolerated each other for the sake of success, looked around a bit even, but now that the shit is starting to get real, this could end very messily and publically with one of them left high and dry. Much like many real marriages actually.

I really do wonder what backup plan Red Bull has for Renault. Surely they're not dumb enough to ruin that relationship before having a new engine partner.

Of the current manufacturers I can only see Honda working with them. The other 2 have their own teams and don't really want a strong Red Bull.

they could develop cosworth engines, but that would be quite expensive and taka some time

unless they make reverse engineering on the renault engines and improve that away from the public eye

Apparantly Sauber gate is over. Sauber agreed to pay back Giedo 15 million dollar, with Ecclestone backing them up if they would get in trouble.

why would you think that? If he gets the 15,000,000, then I think any team will be happy to receive that money for a seat...

With 15 million you could steal a lot of seats in Indycar.

Because his reputation will now proceed him, nobody will want to actively seek his out a driver who will sue to get what he wants because you never know at what point he's going to start throwing round writs, say he wants his coach parked over there, but you inadvertantly park it over here - is that going to result in a court case over it?

He may have the public support of his fellow drivers for standing up to Sauber, but you can bet that given the choice of GvdG or driver X both offering the same £££, team owner is going to plumb for driver X - less chance of being sued if the relationship, as most do, goes south at some point.

It was not the fact he sued, but the way he sued which will cause his future problems. But I guess it depends, if a team is on the brink, I'm sure they'll overlook his reputation and keep their fingers crossed.
