I wonder.
Was it really necessary to delete Hamilton's first lap in Q3?
I mean, it was really clear he didn't gain any advantage with that. You could easily see he lost time with that.

Deleting times when all four wheels go off the track, advantage or not, sets a great precedent.

All Williams front row at the A1 Ring? It's like we've gone back 11 years!

Really pleased though. Great result, hope they can turn it into a win tomorrow.

Really hope Williams get a result tomorrow. They have thrown away so many potential results so far this season.

Yes. If you don't delete it then it opens the door for protests. And why should Lewis get a time that is off the road, even if its slower than his normal, if it gets him ahead of drivers who obeyed the rules?

They all knew the rules. Lewis bottled it.

I've pulled out my sunshine affected BMW-Williams JPM cap in celebration.

How much time did the mistake cost him anyway?

If they hadn't deleted it and he moved up the grid as a result then people would have used a slight wiggle as an excuse to exceed track limits.

Though I'd rather there be some grass and gravel there to punish them instead.

Did they investigate Rosberg on his 3rd place lap too? He looked extremely close to the limit in the penultimate corner if not even over it.

I always said if we get a Mercedes down the field then the race is gonna be epic, though considering how some people *cough* Kals *cough* didn't think both MS and DC climbing through the field in 98 was exciting I guess a Merc fighting his way to second (behind another Merc, obv) as another merc climbs from 3rd to 1st is going to be seen as good enough, right?

Still, gives us something to watch eh :p

Why do I worry Bottas will want to prove a point and desperado his team mate at turn 1/3 on the first lap though?
Don't fuck up and hand this to Rosberg, guys!

Massa on his day was always excellent. The problem is his days didn't come often enough, and the off days were often very poor. The environment in Ferrari has never ever been a particularly driver friendly one, so perhaps this suits him better.

Massa's good day used to almost exclusively come at Turkey.

His bad days almost exclusively came at Silverstone :p

Wow what an end to qualifying! Have to say, I certainly got a little misty eyed when they showed the reaction in the Williams garage and their pit wall -fantastic.

Would've been pretty funny that just as they cut to Massa's family, Bottas took pole off him in a minor re-run of Brazil 2008 :p

Yes because 98 and DC plus Michael coming back through significant field spread versus two guys slightly lower on the grid than expected are EXACTLY the same things.

Your mind should be donated to science, it is a weird creature.

Tee hee, he rose to it :p

This race will be a different kind, but still great I imagine.

Or from your point of view: this race will actually be great, I imagine :-p

We agree, with the way the grid is formed we could see an interesting race. That is until Hamilton wipes off his front wing at turn 2 or Perez removes most of the field and voila we have another 1998 on our hands ;)

If Lewis gets to turn 3 and the only thing he has lost is his front wing it should be classed as a success.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I do worry with the Mercs being not at the front, quite a few people will see this as a rare shot at victory and will get more desperate.

Desperation+tight turn 1/3=UH OHHHH!

Where is Raikkonen with regards to Magnussen? Those two seem to have a magnetic attraction on first laps.
