Something that bugged me for a long long time....does anyone know why the 1987 and 1988 Larrouse had an uncovered Engine??
Just for cooling or??

It was fairly common up to the mid/late eighties for some teams to run with exposed engines. Assuming that it was probably to do with the turbo regs at the time not allowing an air intake above the drivers head to feed the trumpets, so running with no engine cover improved the availability of air.

That Leyton House looks morbid! Worth noting, all those cars from '87-'88 were backmarkers. The '88 Ligier was a disaster.

I quite like the look of the Leyton House. But I'm weird.

Yea, you can add the 1988 EuroBrun to that collection as well. As far as I remember, it was an F3000 chassis with an F1 engine, tires and suspension.

I think it's one of the ugliest cars in F1 history. That's why it's striking.

I think they're all great looking. And by today's standards they are all masterpieces.

Back to 2012...

From WSR's Press Officer:
Quote:
Speaking on TV3 CatRadio i Domenicali does not guarantee that Massa will finish the season.

If Massa has to go then so does Domenicalli.

Handily there's a big gap and a test session between Bahrain & Spain...

Domenicalli isn't any better than Fiorio was at the time.

Well the team is certainly heading in the same direction under Domenicalli, as it was under Fiorio.

I am not sure if the first Eurobrun was a F3000 chassis. I thought it was a new F1 chassis designed by Franco Talentino.

I think you meant the first Dallara in 1988 and eventually they brought out the new F1 chassis after the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Well the current consensus is that Perez will get Massas seat before the end of the year. But lets assume he doesn't, who else is there for that car?

Fisichella is driving for AF Corse, and has already been given a shot at the seat before. Marc Gene won't be getting it either. Davide Rigon is Ferraris 3rd test/reserve driver, but he's had a year out of racing after his injuries last year, and with no experience they wouldn't put him in the car. Jaime Alguersuari is currently unemployed, with no drive at all.

I can see Ferrari going for Jaime mid-season as a bandaid, and then get Perez at the end of the season.

If Massa keeps this up, he won't make it to mid-season

Let's make a poll: when will Massa be fired?

And serious question: what is the situation in Bahrain? How big is the chance that the race will go on?

Not good, don't see a race happening there this year. All the Bahrainies have a curfew aswel since the past year.
