The downforce levels will be such that it'll be like driving a current car without a front wing

Is this written in the magazine? Because the analogy doesn't seems accurate imo, The front wings of the 2009 cars will be adjustable by the driver, so even if they will be flatters, they will not lose that enormous downforce in the front, maybe it will understeer a bit(that depends on how much the regs allows the front wings to be lifted) but the analogy of having no front wing is not correct cause the big change will be in the rear wings, so cars will lose rear much easier, but even that is not comparable to say "driving without rear wings", the difference will be huge but it can be much more without any rear wing at all.
editing: after TimoScheiderfan post, I would say it will not be that slow, 6 degrees is a good help in downforce increasing.

Makes me wonder how the car handles when you loose your front wing, should be nasty :p

it handles like a touring car :p

That rear wing looks horrible. I think even F3 cars have bigger wings...

F1 should LOOK better, bigger, faster, more modern than any other open wheeler series...

that's what I think too but it's difficult to combine that with overtakings. ;)

Now just tell me, my little knowledge in aero tells me that downforce is more or less proportional to the length of the wing (tip effect aside).
Why didn't they make it wider, but thinner? Couldn't they get the same result?

Pink stripes are gay btw. Of all the colors on earth...

Length of the wing is an important factor but more important is how much it is lifted, to say it briefly.

And I also think the CDG would be a better solution.

PS: Barre, how do you got this images with so high resolution?

Have they tested and found out that pink/violet is more visible than red?

Or they (Bridgestone or FIA) just can't admit that they failed in the first place with that ridiculous little white beauty spot that they tried before the current white line... when they could have just copied CCWS and skipped the all the probs.

+1 on the pink tyres thing. It looks very similar indeed, the pink in the real one is just a bit darker.

what's the point of testing new winglets, aren't they banned next year?

btw, anyone know when Force India is testing, they still have to give Vervisch (Belgian driver) his F1 test :)

I hope Bourdais gets another year too... I think he deserves it. I hope it does not come down to Honda-Sato money negotiations. Is Red Bull/Torro Roso contracted to Ferrari power again next year?

Yeah, Ferrari will supply engines to STR for 2009. :)
